21/365 Project 366-1 (2011)
Assignment52-032011~ "I Ate This!"
There's nothing better on a cold winter night than Beef Stew!! This shot is serving a dual purpose.... My daily shot for Project 366-1 (2011) and Assignment52-032011 (I Ate This)
And let me tell you, it was YUMMY!!
I don't even know how or exactly when I took this, but it seems oddly representative of how I feel today.
Sent from my Windows Phone
Britain voted to exit the EU. Cameron announced his resignation. We agreed a purchase price on a new home. It was a big day, with some extremely good changes and some extremely bad ones.
My wife and i went to a local bird show and saw some nice birds and this is one of the photo´s i got from the the day out.
Happy Wall Wednesday! Just in case you were getting bored with walls (really, some people are that fickle), here's a half-wall half-green-stuff photo for you.
The MSH entry that I was going to post would also have qualified for Wall Wednesday, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to post another wall from Wall.
I spent the day in London at the Happy Workplaces Conference. When I got home Richard had received delicious homemade beef jerky in the post for his birthday. It's perfect!

Day 122 of an Unknown Number
"Image 122"
Shortly after observing a drunk woman in yoga attire verbally emasculate a security guard at Gelson's, we happened upon this wall of dead ivy. If I had a nickle for every time I composed that sentence....I would have a nickle. There was a wall of live ivy just to the left of this wall, but this side was clearly more interesting. The light was natural....though it was actually shade. As I ponder and reflect on my posts this year, I notice that I am focusing more on observing than I am on lighting. I suppose that sometimes the nature of the scene is more important than the controlling of the light. Deep, Alexander. Anywho, thanks for dropping by!!

Every year at Jim Goldsteain invites his readers to his blog project.
… to list the years best photos from my readers and social media followers. I’ve run this blog project every year since 2007 and each year I’ve been blown away by the quality of images and the number of participants. This year I will be collecting participants details via this form. If you’re a new participant you can see past years results at www.jmg-galleries.com/blog/tag/best-of-photos/
Here are my favourite images from 2017. I wanted to narrow these down to 10 but … I just couldn’t. All of these images have special significance for me. They are not technically great images but they are the ones with the most emotional impact.

Today we drove to Republic and visited my sister Samantha and family at their law office. The kids were hard at work, as you can see.

Day 234 of an Unknown Number
"Man on a Swing"
There are those times when an image presents itself to you. Today was one of those times. This young man was waiting for his parents as I arrived to pick up my little one from school. The light was as natural as his pose. He was in open shade, so I did not have to deal with any hotspots in the background. Fortunately, I shot this in portrait mode, so I was able to make the background go soft. Thanks for stopping by!!

I actually had a really productive and fun work day but only took one set of photos and they were all of Sid!
July 22, 2015 - One of the few plants that was already here when we moved in, and which I didn't tear out.
This actually took some doing to achieve. I wanted all bokeh without a particular ornament in focus. This is not camera shake.

August 8, 2015 - Passing through our neighbourhood produce market I noted some nicely ripe and fragrant mangos on sale.
Seemed like a good reason to can a few jars of peppery mango salsa for not so sunny days in the future months.
Yum!
One of those shots that looks completely different through the viewfinder. It seems to work in silhouette.
I'm back on track with posting one photo a day now. Let's hope no one noticed.
We spent almost all day unpacking boxes, but have escaped into London tonight for Be Leadership's Morale Event at School of Rock.
July 9, 2015 - I have a history at UBC spanning, with only a one year break, 26 years. (Seeing that shocks me!) So many things have changed so significantly, and yet this icon remains....
We have spent the day pulling up carpets and meeting workmen to quote for work on our new house. Maddie has an interesting desk to complete her homework!
Spent my day in Dublin, where I enjoyed a walk through St Stephen's Green before my meeting. While walking in the park, I was stopped by a student with a clipboard researching optimism and asked the reason for my smile.

Day 157 of an Unknown Number
"Skylight"
The light is natural. Actually, the light was made by humans, but it was not a light source. The sky was the source of illumination. I decided in post to play around with the light itself. I felt that the added warmth was a sensible contrast against the cold image. Thanks for taking a look!!
