As my life has changed this year, I am baking bread less often, unfortunately. It was a self-imposed routine, but one I enjoyed. More or less twice a week. Now it is once every few weeks, if that. My AGA is on the market and there is no telling how long I'll have it. I will try in future to do something like this in a 'regular' oven, using a large tile to simulate a brick oven, as recommended by experts--or baking in a clay pot which would have some of the same effect.
This is half whole wheat sourdough, using my own starter, as usual.

White, wheat, soy, with a dash of chia seed. Sourdough leaven.
Remember, Elizabeth David, British expert on bread, wrote:
"It is rare for homemade bread to be wasted, whereas a very large proportion of bought bread ends up in the dustbin, because it is not valued or in any way respected."
"The sky is the daily bread of the eyes." - Ralph Waldo Emerson. Wheatfield in Portage County, Ohio.
A 2-in-1 loaf. I cut it in half and froze half. Working my way through it. Sourdough wheat and white. Homemade, of course. Baked on the floor of the Aga.

Thanksgiving is a Holiday that is celebrated in the USA. It's a time where we join with friends and family, or just pause to give thanks for our many blessings.
For those who celebrate Thanksgiving, I wish you a joyful one,
and to everyone, I wish you an abundance of reasons to be Thankful!!
(I saw this bird in my neighbors tree with his 'bounty'.
Bread isn't really a good thing to feed birds or any wildlife--it fills them up with empty calories and little nutrition....)
Strobist info: 580 EX CL with coroplast snoot to restrict the light from spilling and 580 EX II CR zoomed at 70mm. This speedlight bounces into a white folder held by my wife just outside of the frame CL for a little fill in the front of the bread. Both triggered via Pocket Wizards. Setup shot here.

Breakfast light.
Something a little different. Mixed a cooked potato into the dough. We'll see if I can taste it. I will say, the dough seemed to rise a bit faster and higher than usual.
Wheat, white, rye flours, water, salt, pinch of dry yeast. Not sourdough, for a change. Risen all one day, then held overnight in fridge and baked next day.
Psalm 119:162
I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil. (KJV)
