"All you need is faith and trust... and a little bit of pixie dust!"

That quote perfectly describes my feelings about my first workshop yesterday. I was beyond excited to meet my group and see what everyone had to offer, and I was nervous too...that I would suddenly forget how to create an image! So I thought it only appropriate to do a Peter Pan picture :-)

It was an absolutely wonderful day from start to finish. I think that we all learned something, and we definitely all had a laugh at some of my odd techniques both in shooting and editing!! :-P I am bursting with excitement for the next one now!

Carrizo Plain

Over time, dust permeates every crevice of much used trail runners, making for 'grainy' details & surreal bokeh

The trees, ground, and bushes are once again dusted with a fresh layer of fluffy snow.

It seems that I have a tendency to run outside with my camera every time it's raining, snowing, or foggy. This generally labelled "bad" weather is somehow appealing to me; it really really makes me want to go snap some photos. I just throw on a jacket, grab my camera and run out the door every time!

It seems that so many people avoid weather that makes them uncomfortable. Sure, it can damage your camera, but you're fine if you have a weather sealed DSLR! You have no excuse. :)

My photos are for sale in the link below! Thank you for checking them out!

Today's red sun was caused by winds from Storm Ophelia pulling up Saharan dust. This dust was reflected and refracted in longer wavelengths, giving a red appearance to the sun and sky.

Also known as the Polaris Flare, these dust clouds are dispersed about Polaris and in the constellation of Ursa Minor.

This was my first photograph using a Rokinon 135 mm f/2 lens wide open at f/2. The lens will let in a lot of light which allowed me to reduce my exposure time, but suffers from very high vignetting when used wide open. I will try to take a photograph using a similar composition with the lens stopped down to f/2.8.

My Canon EOS Ra and lens were mounted on a Vixen Polarie with counterweight (see pictures of the setup below). 60 x 1 minute exposures at ISO 1600 were stacked and processed in Pixinsight.

I was the one who pressed the shutter behind the scene, the idea was from my friend who exist in the frame, this image directly extracted from camera, just used the EyeEm android app filter and then uploaded without any manipulation with photoshop or etc...

When you sprinkle Holi dust everyone starts to look the same.

Dust bathing (also called sand bathing) is an animal behavior characterized by rolling or moving around in dust, dry earth or sand, with the likely purpose of removing parasites from skin. Dust bathing is a maintenance behavior performed by a wide range of mammalian and avian species. For some animals, dust baths are necessary to maintain healthy skin, similar to bathing in water or wallowing in mud. In some mammals, dust bathing may be a way of transmitting chemical signals (or pheromones) to the ground which marks an individual's territory.

Elephants often bathes in water, mud or dust. When bathing and dusting, these elephants gather water or sand in their trunks and then spray it out over their backs. When this is done with water, it is to help them cool down in the hot African weather. Other times when they dust and roll around in the mud, it is done not only to help cool down but also protect the skin from insects and parasites. Once the mud and dust is dry, the elephants begin scraping it off and in the process any parasites on the elephant are removed.

Cosmic Dust Ritual

My Interplanetary Memories

Interplanetary Travel

I was watching the sunset under a red cosmic dust cloud when I took this photo. I was sitting in silence enjoying this unique view in the sky. It was a moment when I felt very, very lucky. I had not yet given a name to this nebula I had just discovered. Instead of naming this nebula, I decided to savor the moment. A nebula or nebula is a nebula structure in space made up of cosmic dust, hydrogen, helium, and other ionized gases spread over vast areas. They were the remains of a dying star. Even billions of years old stars can have an end. When I think about it, a shudder takes over my body. While the concept of the end sometimes causes peace and excitement in me, the concept of the end sometimes causes fear in me. A concept that can put you in volatile moods is the ending. Maybe I should stop thinking about the end. But I still can't stop myself from thinking about my end. There is a result that I have experienced with nebulas and which surprised me quite a bit. I always felt a tremendous sense of peace in the face of all the cosmic dust landscapes I encountered. I was able to sleep better at night. And when I woke up, I felt that my whole body was completely relaxed. The dreams I had when I slept under the cosmic dust were also different. At night, I had dreams that made me happy and did not tire my mind. I discovered that cosmic dust causes positive results in the human body and soul. However, I have never measured it scientifically. It was just an observational discovery. Even thinking about those moments gives me peace right now. Again, I can't wait to encounter a cosmic dust landscape, the nebula.

This ostrich, taking a dust bath in the last light of the day, was photographed in the wild in the Kgalagadi.

HWW! taken this morning from my living room window in Toronto.

Thanks for visiting, enjoy each day. #BeKind

Was up in NY, with no snow and very dry conditions, high winds made visibility unreal !

The intent was to chase after some chukar partridge, which live at the tops of hills such as these, but as the road progressed higher, the hillside on this side of the valley were charred from last summers' wildfires. Attempts to climb the up the accessible routes on side of the valley shown in the photo were foiled by ice. Not every adventure is successful, but isn't that why they're called adventures? Theme: square format. (2015:49/52)

A bit of offroad action from the 2017 Gympie Short Course.

Beautiful sunset lit by a combination of Saharan dust and storm clouds.

Hi loves!

I wanted to make one of my favorite breakfast foods, and bring a blast of color with spring vibes in mind with this smoothie set ♥

The blender is functional and also has texture change, the drinks tray dispenses and includes single drinks for decor as well.

Hi lovelies! <3

For this round of Kustom9 I made a little clothing rack for your homes!

I hope you enjoy!

This is one of my favorite farms/barns/silos to photograph. My last upload was this same spot at night (see below). The dusting of snow on the farm field created some nice texture for the scene. The sun peeked out to the upper left over the silo just enough to shed a bit of light on the subject as well. I froze to death waiting for that sunny moment too. Didnt amount to much but it was brighter than the moments before this shot. Better than nothing. In the winter, you gotta grab whatever sun you can!!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone :-)

Scattered pollen from past pollinators .

My sister and sweet dog in the summertime. We got caught in a dust storm and had to pull over on the side of the road because of a flat tire.

Thought i'd start writing something in here from now on...hopefully :)

I woke up this morning to drop my wife down the train station at 5:30 am, and to my surprise the sky was absolutely stunning. It was lit up from the sun hitting the dust in the sky creating a misty effect, but only a million times better.

I threw the camera and tripod in the car and heading down to the lake where I knew the jetty would make a perfect shot with this dust storm. I have a few other shots which I will post in the next day or so but thought i'd start with one of the better ones.

What a crazy start to the day. Bring on more of this unpredictable weather.

Shot with my Sony a350 + Sigma 10mm - 20mm, which I havent had much of a chance to use yet but am very pleased with it so far :D However it isnt so new now as it got covered in red dust from shooting!

Nearly a years worth of dust on that stand! I have been stuck inside due to foot surgery and so have spent some time on this again.

Can I complete a SHIP in 11 months and 24 hours? Probably not, lol :-P

I've held on to this, but I've yet to identify it. It was in with a group to Lark Sparrows, but it looks more like an immature or a female House Finch. There just aren't enough markings for me to be certain, and s/he really did a fantastic job of dusting herself off which, by the way, was at least a 15 minute process and thoroughly enjoyed...

I spent the last two days shooting in the Great Smokey Mountains. The first snow of the year fell on this morning making for a colorful, muted palette.
