Great neon in Denison, Texas, birthplace of Dwight D. Eisenhower.

We set up a bunch of tarps in the gazebo to keep rain out, some pretty heavy storms were coming through, actually it was the same storm that sent tornadoes through New Hampshire, but luckily most of the weather went north of us.

I love shots of water like this...

Persistent rain left the fennel fronds bedecked with jewels.

It's getting colder and colder everyday~

fun with the macro lens :)

Ulan (near Mudgee)

NSW, Australia.

The Drip is an amazing gorge on the Goulburn River just north of Ulan and about 50km north of Mudgee.

The main part of the massive rock overhang is referred to as The Great Dripping Wall.

Water runs off from the surrounding hillsides & seeps through the rock & drips onto the the pools in the gorge.

Ferns cling to the rocks of the steep overhang and are constantly watered by the the water that drips down the top.

The track to The Drip is about 2.4km return, but it’s well worth exploring further downstream.

There is no track past The Drip area but you can explore by rock-hopping or by wading through the usually fairly shallow water.

There are sandstone cliffs with ferneries that cling to them, huge boulders, & gnarly twisted trees.

Recently, an Aboriginal style painting on a large rock overhang by the river was discovered to be by Brett Whitely, a famous Australian artist.

The Drip area also contains a culturally important cave for the Wiradjuri indigenous tribe.

The cave has been used for many years as a place for women’s rituals & birthing was performed there.

The Drip is a popular destination for both locals & tourists.

People visit The Drip to bushwalk, swim, and also to go camping.

Its a great location for photography, painting, & also for bird-watching.

Unfortunately, The Drip is under threat from mining.

The area is not protected by the nearby Goulburn River national Park & is owned by the Moolarben Coal Company.

The mining company have proposed to protect as national park a measly 0.75ha of the area directly around The Drip wall.

The remainder 53ha of the proposal is for a state conservation area rather than a national park.

This does not protect the sensitive area from mining.

Moolarben Coal have a proposal to drill a tunnel that crosses The Drip are & this has the potential to affect local aquifers & river levels.

This could threaten the survival of the sensitive area of The Drip itself.

Local landowners Julie & Colin Imrie have offered 10ha of their neighbouring ‘Gleniston’ property to become national park,

as long as the Yancoal group hand over a larger portion of their land to national park.

This is a beautiful & unique area that needs to be protected as a national park.

Learned how to get shots like this at our photoclub meeting. I learned more in this 3 three hour meeting then I have since I started photography a year ago.

I love how this piece turned out... it feels like I'm going in the right direction

for Macro Monday's theme: "water play"

My very first attempts at capturing a macro water drop was so much experimental fun that I found it downright addictive. I may share a few more in the days to come :-)

Alder seedheads hanging in the rain over a pond, but one of them has an orange drip hanging from it! Is this dye coming from the seeds? Never noticed this before.

My husband left this on the table yesterday and I decided it would be a good subject for flipping the camera. I should have taken the time to do it with more light and more in focus.

My first attempt at capturing macro water droplets. After a very amateur set up i finally came up with this and was reasonably with it for a first attempt, more practice required though.

A couple of abstract shots of sculptures from the excellent outdoors exhibition at Urchfont Manor, Wiltshire, last weekend.

This particular sculpture is by Patricia Volk.

FYI. In case you are wondering how an image can have so many views and little or no faves, it's because I changed my permission options once. I lost all my faves on 20 shots, and partial faves on a few others. Flickr glitch I guess.

Our Daily Challenge ... exit.

The exit areas of our back deck are particularly drippy today. It is raining and windy due to the effects of Tropical Cyclone Marcia which is only 40km from landfall at Yepoon in Queensland where the whole town is in lock down and people from coastal areas have been evacuated to higher ground. We are in no danger here but today is a good day to keep all exits firmly closed.

Having lurked for a while I've decided to try Flickr's ANSH scavenger hunt for some fun and motivation.

ANSH Round 114 : Show motion in a snapshot

During seasonal winter weather at Thornhill , north of Masborough Jn , a drip of water clings to steel meshing distorted by someone taking a set of bolt croppers and making holes at convenient spots.

Gotta love a fountain indoors. Got a little wet doing this but not so much to break the camera!

Taken during yesterday morning's fog.

I've got a new toy...

It This was super fun to do! I Loved how the water droplets clung together as they fell.

Ponce De Leon Avenue is now bright and colorful here in Atlanta, GA. Five new billboards and four transit posters went up this week! Had a blast working on these at MailChimp.
