Serene and beautiful Thirlmere, Lake District

On Sunday morning we went down to Wasdale in time for sunrise hopeful that there might be a few clouds over the fells to catch the early morning colour. However, the lakeside was littered with tents, deckchairs and other mess that folk bring with them when they come to the lake district. It's just a shame they forgot to bring their glasses as they might have seen the signs dotted along the lakeside that say NO CAMPING!

As a result we couldn't get a shot at the lakeside that didn't have a tent in so we went up to the Western end of the lake where the River Irt begins and stumbled across this misty scene.

Whether you approach through the dramatic limestone gorge of Winnats Pass or from the Hope Valley, you'll appreciate the fabulous views created by its location on the cusp of the Peak District's landscapes.

While driving around Pilsen I happened in to the BNSF local on the remaining stub of the Lumber District. They brought some additional empty gondolas over to Sims Metals on Paulina (where this shot was taken) and then switched Domino Sugar. 7/3/23

We did slip down into England for a day of exploration. We were in the Lake district which is absolutely Gorgeous. The little town where we wanted to eat lunch was packed full so even though it was as charming as a small town could be we gave it a miss. As we rambled the back roads, we came across this "adventure center" for kids and it had a small cafe. The perfect setting and good food.... It couldn't get any better!

A couple months ago, my job moved to a new building. This was one of the last times I was in the old location, after almost everything was moved out.

In 1987 The Coronach & district museum was established when the town of Coronach and the RM of Hart Butte #11 purchased a large collection of pieces from a local estate. In 1997 the museum moved into the original hospital. The museum is kept up by a group of volunteers and has been displayed in a way that honours the pioneers of the area since the early 1900’s. Each original hospital room has been set up as a themed room, including a hospital room, school, communications, store, parlour, library, town office, bedroom, kitchen, toy room, church, sewing & textiles and bathroom

Coniston Fells and Wetherlam looming over Coniston Water and town in the English Lake District with a little bit of autumn sunshine breaking through upon the town and fells.

This is the Dark Peak; the northern moorland section of the Peak District and quite different from the limestone White Peak to the south. This is another photograph I took on one of my bike rides this weekend, being without car. The heather is in full bloom in early August and this area in the foreground is not burnt for the benefit of grouse shooters, so looks particularly beautiful. The hills in the distance are intensively managed grouse moors so look more like an unnatural chessboard. The photograph was taken at about 7am and you can see the morning mist just rising off the distant hills.

Well it looks like it is going to be a good while yet before we can return to The Lake District. With no new images to edit I have been re-editing some old shots. This is one from September 2017.

The last day of our holiday, and we finally had some nice weather, and we could see the autumn colour just starting to appear.

Mission District, San Francisco

Schenectady's historic Stockade District gets its name from the protective stockade Dutch settlers built here in 1661 to protect their small settlement. Today the neighborhood is a historic district that contains more than 40 homes built before the Revolutionary War.
