The Yangzi is the longest river in China. It's formal name is Cháng Jiāng (长江, "Long River").
But in it's lower reaches, after passing the Yizheng/Yangzhou area, it is called Yángzǐ Jiāng (扬子江), from which the western names such as Yangtze, Yangtzekiang, Yangzi or Jangtsekiang are derived.
The upper reaches however, before the river enters the Sichuan Basin, are called Jīnshā Jiāng (金沙江, "Golden Sand River").

Btw., the bridge just discernible in the distance, just beyond the island, is the "Fourth Nanjing Changjiang Bridge" (南京长江第四大桥), about 43 km away from this position.

This wide-angle night photograph was taken at a spot between the Sheares Bridge (for vehicles) and Helix Bridge (for pedestrians) along Esplanade. The distinctive top of Marina Bay Sands was positioned near the intersecting of the two bridges. Some of other landmarks in the Bay could be discerned, including ArtScience Museum and high-rise buildings in Central Business District.

Nubs of trees worn by water when this little creek turns into a roaring monster. While hard to discern a fallen tree creates a dark cavern on the left. Next to these nubs one may wonder what dwells in that dark damp space.
On a more lightened note. One has to be amazed at nature and the ability for species to adapt.
While Driving home from downtown Toronto, stopped along the way. It was a chilly evening but saw a brilliant sunset with sea gulls, swans and Canadian geese all taking it easy for the day. One can discern them in the pic.
Although this spring my garden and myself have been plagued by dismal, rainy, dreary weather, life goes on. These two garden neighbors, Chocolate Trillium and tiny Brunnera, seem to be chatting to each other, discussing the weather no doubt! lol :)

Honesty (Lunaria) - in my garden and in my heart. With the latter, unlike the former, it doesn't just appear in spring, there are no stages, no tweaking, no compromises and no exceptions, it is a guiding Light, Take it or leave it.
In the times of inversion and great deceit in which we live, a world where lies are the accepted norm, from the very top down and throughout all media, then speaking the truth is considered a subversive act ..... or at least it soon will be.
It is an interesting contemplation that honesty and truth are not necessarily synonymous. Truth by definition is honest, but without honesty that which is true can be difficult to discern.
This flower also has lovely papery white seed pods that the sun shines through and illuminates in autumn.

Écureuil roux (Sciurus vulgaris) Neuchâtel, Suisse.
L’écureuil roux est continuellement sur le qui-vive grâce à ses sens amplifiés. Il a, en effet, une vue relativement puissante et surtout un large champ de vision. Il distingue les couleurs, tout du moins certaines d'entre elles. Il discerne surtout les formes verticales, aptitude indispensable pour lui, qui doit estimer avec précision les distances entre les arbres et les branches. Ce petit arboricole possède également un excellent sens du toucher, en partie grâce aux vibrisses sensorielles de sa tête, de ses pieds et de la partie externe de ses membres. Son odorat est excellent, d’ailleurs il communique avec ses congénères à l'aide de signaux olfactifs. Il trouve une partie de sa nourriture avec son flair, particulièrement les graines et champignons enterrées à l'automne en prévision de l'hiver.

This pedestrian bridge was constructed in stainless steel to link the Esplanade to Marina Bay Sands (MBS). The distinctive top of MBS could be seen above the Helix Bridge. Some of other Marina Bay landmarks could be discerned, including ArtScience Museum and some high-rise buildings in Central Business District.

De plan allongé, l'église est orientée vers le nord-est. Son portail occidental est caractérisé par un élan vertical puissant, alors même que les décors sont modestes pour les deux premiers niveaux d'élévation : tympan en ogive, vierge de tout décor. Le deuxième niveau présente une grande baie en ogive accueillant elle-même une baie géminée surmonté d'un oculus. De part et d'autre de cet ouverture centrale se dresse une baie aveugle, terminée en ogive. Au troisième niveau déjà, une tour émerge de la partie sud de l'édifice, percée à sa base de deux ouvertures par côté, en plein-cintre. Au-dessus, une tourelle polygonale abrite le clocher à proprement parler, ce que l'on discerne par les abat-sons. La flèche est également polygonale, et s'orne de fleurons tout le long de ses arêtes. L'unique vaisseau de la nef est éclairé au nord et au sud par quatre larges baies en ogive et se coiffe d'un toit en bâtière, tandis qu'à l'est, l'église est aboutie par un chevet à trois pans, sur lequel repose un toit en croupe.

The eastern cottontail can be found in meadows and shrubby areas in the eastern and south-central United States, southern Canada, eastern Mexico, Central America and northernmost South America. It is also found on the Caribbean island of Margarita. It is abundant in Midwest North America.
Optimal eastern cottontail habitat includes open grassy areas, clearings, and old fields supporting abundant green grasses and herbs, with shrubs in the area or edges for cover. Food items include bark, twigs, leaves, fruit, buds, flowers, grass seeds, sedge fruits, and rush seeds. (Wikipedia)
This bunny was trying to enjoy the sun without being noticed by the hordes of birders who were trying to do the same thing. Unfortunately, his cover was easily discerned by the birder's eye and he become a portrait subject for said birder :)

If I was to show you a book on a specific topic, and it had details and photos to contribute to its distinct message to get across its topic clearly, and then I said that no one wrote this book, it just appeared out of nowhere, would that not be ridiculous, because you can tell by its structure etc that there was a mind behind its creation. Neufahrn bei Freising is the name of the town at the bottom of this aerial view towards south from an airplane short after departing MUC/EDDM.
The next village towards south is called Dietersheim and at the top of the image is the research center of the Technical University Munich with the just discernible Atom-Ei nuclear research reactor.

Oiseau aquatique de la taille d'une oie, le Grand Cormoran est presque complètement noir avec reflets métalliques bleutés et un peu bronze discernables à faible distance. Il se distingue des cormorans huppé et pygmée par sa taille supérieure, sa silhouette plus massive, ainsi que par une zone jaunâtre à la base du bec. Le Grand Cormoran vole souvent à bonne hauteur même au-dessus des terres et volontiers en formations en V ou en ligne, cou tendu en avant. Excellent plongeur, il est aussi à l'aise en mer qu'à terre. Pour pêcher, le grand cormoran nage très profondément dans l'eau, et parfois jusqu'à une vingtaine de mètres. Comme les autres cormorans, il nage très enfoncé dans l'eau. Son bec crochu, sorti de l'eau, prend souvent l'aspect d'un serpent. S'il est menacé, cet oiseau s'enfonce dans l'eau et ne laisse que sa tête émerger. Comme les Cormorans pygmée et huppé, il a un plumage moins étanche que celui d'autres oiseaux aquatiques. Après chaque plongée, il est obligé de se poser les ailes entrouvertes sur des pieux ou des rochers pour faire sécher son plumage au vent, souvent pendant plusieurs heures. Les Grands Cormorans vivent fréquemment en groupes. Ils se rassemblent souvent sur les bancs de sable, les récifs, les jetées, etc.

A goose-sized aquatic bird, the Great Cormorant is almost completely black with metallic bluish and tan reflections discernible at close range. It is distinguished from the crested and pygmy cormorants by its larger size, its more massive silhouette, as well as a yellowish area at the base of the beak. The Great Cormorant often flies at good height even over land and willingly in V-formations or in a line, neck stretched forward. An excellent diver, he is as comfortable at sea as on land. To fish, the great cormorant swims very deeply in the water, and sometimes up to twenty meters. Like other cormorants, it swims very deep in the water. Its hooked beak, out of the water, often takes on the appearance of a snake. If threatened, this bird sinks into the water and only lets its head emerge. Like the Pygmy and Crested Cormorants, it has less airtight plumage than that of other water birds. After each dive, it is forced to land its wings parted on stakes or rocks to dry its plumage in the wind, often for several hours. Great Cormorants frequently live in groups. They often congregate on sandbars, reefs, jetties, etc.

My interpretation...taken near dusk. This little bit of rocky heaven is actually a relatively unremarkable part of the spectacularly convoluted Canyonlands area that has been carved out by frequent flooding into the Colorado River. But after looking twice twice, it caught my imagination...I realized that in other contexts this hardly discernible scene would be a knockout. So I wanted to make that happen.

De las palabras de Dios, se puede ver que con que usemos Sus palabras como una base, podremos discernir lo correcto de lo incorrecto y ponernos de parte de Dios en los asuntos que nos llegan en la vida diaria; en las pruebas y refinamiento, siempre que busquemos la verdad y entendamos la voluntad de Dios, podremos dar un verdadero testimonio. Es decir, si buscamos la verdad, la verdad nos permitirá no perdernos en todo tipo de circunstancias y dar un rotundo testimonio de Dios. Cuando la protagonista del siguiente artículo sufrió de enfermedad, aunque tenía dolor y queja en su corazón, a través leer las palabras de Dios y buscar la verdad, se dio cuenta de que su punto de vista en creencia en Dios era erróneo, tuvo una verdadera obediencia a Él y verdadera fe y se dispuso a encomendar su vida y muerte a Él. Al final, ella se mantuvo firme en su testimonio a Él bajo la guía de la verdad y la Palabra de Dios. Greenland's glaciers are over 100.000 years old. According to a multitude of sources, glacier ice is blue as the red part of white light is absorbed by ice and the blue light is transmitted and scattered. The longer the path light travels in ice, the bluer it appears.The reflection in the water shows a small portion of the 3/4 of the ice mass which is underwater. Compressed ice bubbles in this calved remnant of dark blue millennium ice are also clearly discernible. Fewer bubbles the bluer the ice. Greenland's ice sheet is visible in the background.

La Biblia dice: “Pero ante todo sabed esto, que ninguna profecía de la Escritura es asunto de interpretación personal, pues ninguna profecía fue dada jamás por un acto de voluntad humana, sino que hombres inspirados por el Espíritu Santo hablaron de parte de Dios” (2 Pedro 1:20-21). “[...] que los ignorantes e inestables tuercen—como también tuercen el resto de las Escrituras—para su propia perdición” (2 Pedro 3:16). “porque la letra mata, pero el Espíritu da vida” (2 Corintios 3:6). Estos versículos nos dicen que no podemos interpretar las profecías literalmente confiando en nuestros conceptos e imaginaciones, porque las profecías son de Dios, y es sólo a través de la iluminación del Espíritu Santo que podemos entenderlas. Sin embargo, antes de que se cumplan las profecías, es fácil para nosotros confiar en nuestras propias nociones e interpretarlas literalmente. Esto hace que sea fácil interpretar mal las profecías. Y nuestras interpretaciones absurdas engañarán a otros. Por ejemplo, cuando se trataba de las profecías sobre la llegada de Mesías, los fariseos dependían de sus propias ideas. Antes de que Jesucristo naciera, basado en el significado literal de las profecías en Isaías 7:14, 9: 6-7 y Miqueas 5: 2, imaginaron la llegada de Mesías: Mesías nacería de una virgen en Belén, y se llamaría Emmanuel; Crecería en un palacio y gobernaría a Israel sentado en un trono. Sin embargo, cuando las profecías se cumplieron, la forma en que habían imaginado a Él terminó por estar en desacuerdo con los hechos. Lo que realmente vieron fue: El Señor nació de María casada y de la familia de un carpintero, y fue llamado Jesús; Vino de Nazaret, y al final fue clavado en la cruz. Esto es muy diferente del significado literal de las profecías. Por lo tanto, aunque vieron que la obra y la predicación de Jesucristo tenían autoridad y poder, los fariseos no reconocían a Jesucristo como Mesías prometido. En cambio, ellos blasfemaron incluso contra Jesucristo, diciendo que Él dependía del príncipe de los demonios para expulsar a los demonios. Así, cometieron el pecado de blasfemar contra el Espíritu Santo, ofendieron la disposición de Dios y nunca obtendrían el perdón del Señor. Y aquellos plebeyos que no tenían discernimiento y creían lo que los fariseos decían, también perdieron la salvación de Dios. De este ejemplo, podemos ver que debido a que los fariseos se aferraron a sus imaginaciones y al significado literal de las profecías, se arruinaron a sí mismos y también a otros.

Niritella rhellicani (Orchidaceae) 170 23
Nigritella rhellicani is indisputably the most widespread and frequently encountered of the seventeen species currently comprising the Nigritella nigra group. Its range takes it from the western Alps, eastwards to the Carpathians and although unconfirmed, probably into Russia. It can be abundant in its favoured locations, where it grows in short alpine turf as low as 1000 metres up to a recently recorded altitude of over 3000 metres. Nigritella rhellicani together with Nigritella austriaca are colloquially known as the "Black Vanilla Orchids" and are frequently found growing alongside each other. In typical plants there are easily discerned distinguishing characteristics, unfortunately however the natural variation within both species can often render accurate identification all but impossible except to the professional scientific eye.
Nigritella rhellicani is hugely variable in most of its morphological features and not least flower dimensions, shape of inflorescence and colouration. Its suspected that taxonomic changes will take place in the future but for the present this species must be seen as difficult to satisfactorily describe.

Exodus évoque une des conséquences les plus dramatiques du réchauffement climatique : la forte dégradation d’habitats humains ou naturels qui pousse à l’exode des populations entières en raison… de la désertification de vastes régions devenues inhabitables, de l’inondation de zones côtières ou encore de l’émergence de zones de tempêtes particulièrement violentes. Ces menaces et leurs conséquences sont déjà des réalités en Afrique et au Bangladesh notamment. En Europe et en Amérique du Nord, on discerne déjà des évidences de ces tendances menaçantes.
L’espèce humaine est sans doute dotée d’intelligence, mais… peut-elle vraiment aller au-delà de ses intérêts immédiats et des idéologies politiques qui polarisent ses débats et obscurcissent les faits et les pistes d’action proposées par la science?
Alors que s’amorce la Conférence sur le climat à Paris, je donne mon appui à tous ceux et à toutes celles qui cherchent à prouver que la réponse à cette question est OUI!

"Exodus" evokes one of the most dramatic consequences of global warming: the increased degradation of nature and human habitat that forces the exodus of large populations due to . .. desertification of large regions that became inhabitable; the flooding of coastal lines or again, the apparition of strong storm zones, very violent. These threats and their consequences are already realities in Africa or especially in Bangladesh. In Europe and North America, we witness already the evidence of menacing tendencies.
Human species is without doubt gifted with intelligence, but . . . could it really go beyond its immediate interests and political ideologies that polarize debates and obscure the facts and the directions suggested by science?
As I am looking forward to the Climate Summit in Paris this December, I give all my support to those that try to prove that the answer to this question is YES!

Here is the reason I take pictures of old buildings. This one here was like a beacon on the Illinois prairie. It made this small town a destination for many photographers. I’m sure that made little meaningful impact on the local economy but it was nevertheless the most recognizable icon of a town that otherwise had no real focal point. Now the building is gone. Torn down to make room for nothing discernible. A victim of time and diminishing resources. In an age when little value is placed upon history, this is sure to happen again and again. Preservation gives way to to the desire for urban renewal and the past gets swept away like so much offal.

Le Marronnier blanc, White chestnut en Anglais, est la fleur du discernement, de la clarté d'esprit et du calme mental lorsque l'on rumine et que l'on a toujours la même pensée qui tourne en nous.
Gunnera manicata appelée encore rubarbe géante du Brésil
'non comestible ) au parc du domaine du Windeck-Ottrott )
est une espèce de plante vivace à rhizomes traçants de la famille des Gunneraceae. Elle est originaire du Brésil. Les feuilles peuvent atteindre 2 m de diamètre et forment une couronne d e plusieurs mètres d'envergure au niveau du sol. Vivant à l'état spontané dans les marécages de montagnes où elle subit le gel, la Gunnère du Brésil est plus rustique qu'il n'y parait. Quelques années après la plantation, quand la plante est bien installée elle peut résister à des températures atteingnant - 12,-15° c vivre -20° à condition toute fois que la souche soit placée à l'abri du vent et bien protégée du froid.
- La visite du parc nous invite à exercer nos sens: voir sentir, toucher, goûter; elle nous invite aussi à user de notre bon sens pour distinguer ce qui pourrait être vu comme semblable
alors qu'il y a de l'originalité, source d'émerveillement....et de discernement !

En los últimos días, el Señor vendrá de nuevo, y aparecerán toda clase de herejías y caminos falsos. Estos son los hechos. En esta coyuntura crítica de acoger la llegada del Señor, nos negamos a escuchar, leer o contactarnos con cualquier mensaje sobre la venida de Cristo, por temor a ser engañados. De esta manera, aunque evitemos ser engañados por caminos falsos, cerraremos fácilmente la puerta al Dios verdadero. Esto parece seguro, pero en realidad, hay una trama de Satanás, que teme que busquemos activamente las huellas de Dios y que regresemos a Su presencia, por lo que hace todo lo posible para enviarnos sus pensamientos o difundir herejías, mentiras para engañarnos y que nos limitemos. Como resultado, no hacemos más que defendernos pasivamente y por otra parte, incluso aún si hemos escuchado a alguien que da testimonio del regreso de Jesucristo, no nos atrevemos a buscar o investigar. Entonces, ¿cómo podemos recibir el retorno del Señor de esta manera? En cuanto a la acogida de la segunda venida del Señor, si tomamos la defensa contra la herejía y la falsa doctrina como nuestra misión principal, pero no damos importancia a la búsqueda y la investigación del verdadero camino, ¿no sería un caso de “lo barato sale caro”? De hecho, no importa cómo nos cuidemos contra las herejías y la falsa doctrina, si no acogemos con beneplácito el regreso del Señor ni podemos ser llevados ante el trono de Dios, seremos vírgenes insensatas que serán eliminadas y abandonadas por Dios al final. Todos sabemos que Dios es todopoderoso y que todo en el mundo está en las manos de Dios. Jehová Dios dijo: “Y que no desmaye vuestro corazón, ni temáis al rumor que se oirá en la tierra; […]” (Jeremías 51:46). 2 Timoteo 1:7 también dijo: “Porque no nos ha dado Dios espíritu de cobardía, sino de poder, de amor y de dominio propio”. De estos versículos, podemos ver que lo que Dios nos da es fuerza, coraje y que la fuente del temor es Satanás. Estamos bajo el cuidado y la protección de Dios, tenemos la presencia y el liderazgo del Espíritu Santo; ¿Hay alguna necesidad de que nos preocupemos o tengamos miedo de ser engañados? La oveja de Dios escucha Su voz. Aquellos que realmente tienen inteligencia y calidad no serán engañados por herejías y falsos caminos. Solo aquellos que están confundidos y sin inteligencia pueden ser engañados por herejías y caminos falsos. Creo que cuando busquemos y examinemos el regreso del Señor, mientras confiemos sinceramente y miremos a Dios y busquemos la verdad, obtendremos el liderazgo y la guía de Dios y podremos discernir entre el verdadero camino y los falsos según la palabra de Dios, no seremos engañados por los falsos caminos.
