Le aree di costa della Guinea Bissau sono caratterizzate da ambienti di laguna ed è qui che si è sviluppata la risicoltura di mangrovia: è da questo mescolarsi di acque dolci e salate che nasce un ecosistema dall'equilibrio unico e delicato, dove si origina questo intervento.

Nella posizione in cui sorge il castello, in cima alla collina, già in epoca medioevale si ergeva una fortezza.
Alla fine del XVII secolo i conti Solaro affidarono all'architetto Guarino Guarini i lavori di ampliamento e di abbellimento del castello. L'architetto preparò dei disegni ma non portò a termine il progetto. I lavori ripresero un secolo dopo da parte dell'architetto Benedetto Alfieri che li ultimò partendo proprio dai disegni del Guarini.
Il castello divenne proprietà di casa Savoia nel 1792 e dDopo il periodo napoleonico fu scelto come residenza estiva insieme al castello ducale di Agliè.
Re Carlo Felice, assieme alla moglie Maria Cristina fece completamente restaurare il castello agli inizi dell'Ottocento, sulla base di propri disegni. Analogamente si operò sull'adiacente parco dotato di giardino all'italiana.

Dalla fine dell'Ottocento il castello - che ha avuto una particolare notorietà per il soggiorno, avvenuto nel 1730, di Jean-Jacques Rousseau, al tempo appena entrato al servizio del conte Ottavio Solaro - è di proprietà del comune di Govone.
Dal 2007 fa parte del circuito degli 8 castelli, meglio noto come Castelli Doc. La rete dei castelli include i manieri di Grinzane Cavour, Barolo, Serralunga d'Alba, Govone, Magliano Alfieri, Roddi, Mango e Benevello. È inoltre inserito nel circuito dei "Castelli Aperti" del Basso Piemonte.

Arma di Taggia.Taggia is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Imperia in the Italian region Liguria.
The town is divided into three parts: Taggia proper, located in the Valle Argentina in the immediate outback, it can be considered the proper centre of the city; Arma, a sea resort; and Levà , including the industrial area, placed between the other centres. The town can be found at approximately ten miles (16 km) from the city of Imperia.
Tombs dating from the 10th-7th centuries BC have been found in the area of Taggia. During the Roman domination it was an important commercial port, known as Costa Balenae. After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the old centre was damaged by the invasion of Rotharis's Lombards and then by a landslide in 690. The inhabitants moved to a new walled settlement, called Tabia. Despite its defences, in 889 it was sacked and razed to the ground by the Saracens
The rebuilt burgh became in 1153 a fief of the Clavesana family, but soon later it was acquired by the Republic of Genoa. In 1273 it became an autonomous commune, later receiving a podestà named in Genoa, under which it remained until its disappearing in the Napoleonic Wars. Later it was part of the Kingdom of Sardinia (1815) and of the Kingdom of Italy (1861).

Basilica of San Giacomo and San Filippo (1675–1681), built on an 11th-century Romanesque church.
Church of Santa Maria del Canneto (10th or 14th century).
Church of San Martino di Tours, housing 15th-century frescoes.
Convent of San Domenico (160–1490). It has some pictures painted by Ludovico Brea.

Palermo Cathedral (officially Cattedrale metropolitana della Santa Vergine Maria Assunta) was constructed over many centuries and features a range of architectural styles. The earliest structure at this site was Byzantine basilica built in the 6th century that was converted into a mosque during the Arab period. It was seriously damaged in the earthquake of 1169. The current cathedral was originally constructed by the Normans, beginning in 1185. The original Norman design still is preserved on the east side of the Cathedral.
The main south façade as well as the upper levels of the corner towers were built between in the 14th and 15th centuries and display both late Gothic and early Renaissance features. The interior was completely redone in a neo-classical style between 1781 and 1801.
