When I entered the room where singer/pianist Ben Westbeech was supposed to play I found a guy with a funny hat who was behind a laptop and a mixer.
Turned out the Brittish boy wonder was booked for a dj-set. Bit of a dissapointment, though he played a decent set.
Seen at @ the first edition of Raw Rhythm, a new festival on the old location of the famous Drum Rhythm Festival that folded years and years ago.
Raw Rhythm is sponsored by G-Star Raw, who deserve credit for pumping money into good music during difficult times.
They brought their whole posse on stage, which helped the energy on and off stage tremendously.
This Dutch hiphop collective called Zwart Licht is going places!

Vanochtend zou om 07.00 een kraakpand aan de Ringdijk ontruimd worden.
Het bijzondere aan deze ontruiming was dat het een jonge moeder met 2 kleine kinderen betrof. De kinderen werden tijdig in veiligheid gebracht.
Leila kreeg ondersteuning van de Amsterdamse kraakbeweging.
Ik zou de ontruiming van binnen uit fotograferen, maar uiteindelijk kwam een agent vertellen dat de ontruiming vandaag niet door zou gaan.

Yesterday the "AmsterS@m Angels", the lovely Miss Zeee and the lovely Miss M, escorted me to a reception with drinks&snacks at the Hotel Krasnapolsky for the participants of the 'In love with Amsterdam' photo exhibition/contest :)
We had some drinks with the nice folks that showed up and I even met some Flickr legends, the always awesome Akbar and the benevolent Ben, you guys rock, and like I told you, it was like being in one room with King-Kong and Godzilla ;-))

We had some Limited-Edition postcards and large prints of photos on display and they were very popular with the crowd, it was fun to see how people react to my wicked reflections in real life :)

Interesting approach that I haven't seen before. After clicking on a link on the homepage, a DHTML layer appears with "Before continuing...".
It probably has a better chance of success than a popup (DHTML or window) that appears automatically when the homepage is loaded.
It also feels ever so slightly more polite, but that's debatable.
Before I was a Flickr fan, I was trying to make a nice in-browser photo viewer app which had some basic search features, thumbnail previews via PHP and so on. I went so far as to make animated .GIF previews of videos, but I never really got to embedding them.

I was writing an opinion piece on this Web 2.0/AJAX stuff, and needed some photos.. Couldn't resist. 99 cents at Albertsons, what value!
Maybe it was taking a photo at 1:30 AM that did it, on second thought.
