These people popped up on numerous pages on the site and started talking. Luckily a mouseover them helped reveal that you could, indeed shut them up. Still baffled why anyone would voluntarily put this one their site. It's a shame, since it's otherwise a lovely site.
Reminds me of when the DHTML pop-ups that flew past a screen started showing up about 5 years ago. I suppose this is meant to get potential attendees laughing at the jokes the little people make on the web site.
Me, I'm here to browse for content... is that not done anymore, or must I be entertained at the same time?

**inderdaad, een makkie: 't Hoogt met het parkeerdek van het Buikslotermeerplein.
Update, 9 augustus 2009: gelinkt door het onvolprezen Parool, keurig met bronvermelding. Het past ook mooi bij het -wat treurige- artikel.
En in het internettijdperk is het uitbaten van een krant ook nauwelijks meer commerciëel te noemen, dus voor CC-NC zal ik met de hand over mijn hart strijken :-)

The final version of this design.
We almost launched with this. I coded it all up with DHTML dropdown menus on the top bar and everything. Meg hated it and pulled it at the last second. It was a bit too limiting when it comes to fitting text into it.
We created one of NASCAR.com’s best-performing promos ever. Would we do it again? Not exactly. Yes, our sweepstakes microsite earned more than a million page views and 94,000 entries — but we had to keep it fresh.
So we gave the site itself a make-over. A new game concept upped engagement and exposure to NASCAR partners. A cornucopia of car care product offers drove interest in — and traffic to — those partners.
The re-vamped sweepstakes pulled down more than 270,000 entries, and went on to win the 2009 Automotive Communications Award in the Business-to-Consumer category.

Het passagierschip Ocean Nova vaart in de richting van Kiel op het Nord-Ostsee-Kanal. Hier ter hoogte van Rendsburg.
Het Scandinavische schip was oorspronkelijk gebouwd met het oog op cruises rond Groenland. Door zijn versterkte romp kan het schip zelf de Weddelzee, die bezaaid is met zwaar drijfijs, bevaren. Het schip wordt tegenwoordig ingezet door Quark expeditions voor expeditiecruises naar Antarctica
