It's important to design in context. In other words, the environment in which the design is produced should, as closely as possible, match the context in which the final product will be used.
In this case the development team was based in a heritage centre (think museum/visitor centre) in Brighton.
We made a special effort to test the application with touch screens as this was to be the delivery medium for our kiosk software.
This is café Eik en Linde. The other day i walked in, drank a Duvel and took some pictures.
At the bar people were gossiping about Robert Jasper Grootveld, de rookmagiër uit Amsterdam. Grootveld was a preluder to PROVO, an anti authoritarian movement in the 1960's that - whats in a name? - tried to provoke the uptight Dutch pre-war establishment. Last years he has been building styrofoam islands to help the world with rising waterlevels. According to the gossippers at the bar Grootveld had ran downhill and had become a lonely man
Eik en Linde is the pub for many worldimprover, provocateur, artists and writers. Grootveld belonged to the clientele for many years. I have this Eik en Linde photocollage composed a while back .. i like it. Tonight i read Robert Jasper Grootveld died, so i think here is a memorable occassion to post.

║ different "jobs" throughout the years, to help the business

║ not limited to : database/SQL and point-of-sale implementation
║ and management, webmaster, online sales and shipping,
║ ordering of music, organization of products, etc. I worked for an
║ independently owned new and used music and book store. I
║ worked mainly with record albums (vinyl) and cd's. With the
║ awesome employee discount I was able to collect a lot of music
║ and books unique to my interests throughout the years.

In memoriam Marc Cornelissen and Philip de Roo.
About ten days ago, two Dutch polar explores disappeared in the Northern Canada, in the arctic region. They were exploring the thickness of the ice.
Earlier appeared in the paper Trouw an interview with one of them.
Both the drowning and this interview touched me deeply in a complete unexpected way.
In this interview is sounding through a high degree of passion and engagement for both men and nature

...buurtgenoot arjan ederveen was vandaag elders voor cultuurtransplantatie, dus moet u het met mij doen... maar ik kan ook heel goed van mij af snijden... en subsidiegeld kun je ook maar één keer uitgeven... om te beginnen: u kon het in de volkskrant lezen... (neen, ik geloof niet dat wij er al in stonden?)... "kunst is niet voor kinderen"... jullie worden bedankt!... maar, kinderen, komen jullie vooral naar één van de workshops voor meer- en minderjarigen - 'nodeloos of atonaal' met hanz of daniel?... ik ga hier het programma voor deze week dat uitdrukkelijk gedrukt staat niet herhalen, u bekijkt het maar... maar het is veel!... een biodiversiteit aan muziek, dans, film, video, theater, literatuur... en gelukkig niet wéér zonnebloemen van gogh in oosterwolde, maar een breed stralend, veelzijdig kleurrijk spectrum: een caleidoscoop!... zeer divers en wakker... blik- en geestverruimend... bewust haalden we niet van stal alleen dát wat al jaren op het plankje lag... maar ook buiten de vertrouwde oostelijke en westelijke stellingen wisten we verre, verse kunst te verwerven... amsterdam, arnhem, rotterdam... jubbbbbega... allemaal grensverleggend... en het was zweten, niet alleen vanwege de hitte in de prachtige serre... maar perenijs en appeltaart vallen dan erg goed... dank!... nadrukkelijk dank ik allen die zich druk gemaakt hebben... leve de aardappeleters!... drink met ons een glaasje en neem een handje chips... o ja... dat het nieuwe lenteakkoord de omzetbelasting op kunst terug naar 6% gebracht heeft is natuurlijk zonnig nieuws... maar de echte creatief die zijn kunstgeschiedenis kent én de lessen van andy warhol (inmiddels óók al een cliché), de echte creatief verkocht zijn werk al veel langer tegen het nul-tarief, onder de noemer 'kunsteducatie'... alle hier staande en hangende werken hebben een verdiende prijs, maar pas bij verkoop zijn ze gelauwerd...

Danaë is an oil painting by Gustav Klimt, created in 1907. The canvas measures 77 x 83 cm, is cataloged as Symbolism (arts)|Symbolism, and is housed in the Galerie Würthle in Vienna. Danaë was a popular subject in the early 1900’s for many artists; she was used as the quintessential symbol of divine love, and Transcendence (philosophy)|transcendence. While imprisoned by her father, King of Argos, in a tower of bronze, Danaë was visited by Zeus, symbolized here as the golden rain flowing between her legs. It is apparent from the subject's face that she is sexual arousal|aroused by the golden stream. In this work, she is curled in a sumptuous royal purple veil which refers to her imperial lineage. Sometime after her celestial visitation she gave birth to a son, Perseus, who is cited later in Greek mythology for slaying the Gorgon Medusa and rescuing Andromeda (mythology)|Andromeda. The Amsterdam Tattoo Museum of Henk “Hanky Panky” Schiffmacher.
The museum was started on 05 November 2011 at Plantage Middenlaan 62, but after about a year it became known that a conflict had arisen between Schiffmacher and his financial partner, who went bankrupt. As a result Schiffmacher was not allowed to enter the museum and recover his collection. The museum in Van Woustraat is a pop-up gallery, opened on 28 February 2013. A permanent location is being looked for.
Schiffmacher’s tattoo shop is a minute’s walk from here at Ceintuurbaan 416.

Paul de Leeuw speelt de hoofdrol in de film 'Alle tijd'.
Samen met mijn vrouw liep ik over de 'Lange Vijverberg' in Den Haag, toen we zagen dat er een aantal personen bezig waren met het opzetten van een enorm reflectiescherm. We besloten even te wachten en even later waren we getuige van de opname van een filmscène met in de hoofdrol Paul de Leeuw.

This office & archives building is important in more than one respect. Here's an article in Dutch that describes how the LDS archives have been offering local archives (also in NL) to digitize all their birth, marriage and death certificates. However widely welcomed, this effort caused upheaval when it became clear that the LDS church uses these data to posthumously baptize these citizens so to increase their database of 'followers'...
