Before stepping away from our mini tour on the Bridge Line, it's time we showcase some original D&H proper, which must include some Alco power. Here's low nose RS-11 No. 5010, the East Binghamton yard switcher for the day, ready to kick cars at the old tower on a rainy Independence Day 1981.
A peek inside Colonie Diesel Shop on 23 June 1980 reveals a variety of four-cycle power. including a C-420, a U33C, an RS-3u, and a couple of unmodified RS-3s, including one repainted on solid blue (possibly the 4118).
Wings Over South Texas Corpus Christi Naval Air Station: DH-10 Vampire, what a beauty! It was a low ceiling gray day with high winds for most of the show. Blue skies were not on the menu. Corpus Christi Naval Air Station Est. 1941. In 1944 it became the largest naval aviation training facility in the world.

With the daily fast train from Nador to Fès DH 372 crosses through fresh green Moroccan spring landscape. The lake on the left is the reservoir Barrage Idriss 1er.
G-ARYC in the de Havilland Aircraft Museum at London Colney on the 6th June 2021. This embryonic version of the famous DH / HS / BAe / Hawker / Raytheon 125 business jet. Wears Bristol Siddeley on the port side and Rolls Royce Bristol Engine Divison on the starboard.
Finally the sun is shining on the Delaware & Hudson, at least in a weather way, in this 28 May 1990 view of an eastbound freight grinding up the grade at Crocker Hill Road in Port Crane NY, with four Guilford grey units retained by the D&H, including lead GP38-2 No. 7324 of Lehigh Valley heritage.
The Many Moods of D&H continue with this shot. We've seen Amtrak, and S&NC, and now BN. This view is from a rainy 29 April 1989 at the Phelps Street crossing in Port Dickinson. Green SD45 No. 6536 in NRL lease service and a GATX GP38 are pitching in helper service on Belden Hill during the days of NYS&W operations when it was anything goes power wise.
An official 1981 vintage schematic map of the former Lackawanna yard in East Binghamton, abandoned by Conrail but revived by D&H at that time, and now the property of Norfolk Southern. Note the preliminary plans to restore the roundhouse to operation. Provided to us by a hospitable employee in the yard tower.
A panoramic and elevated view of the old DL&W East Binghamton roundhouse and turntable from 26 November 1981. The yard was in the hands of the D&H and the railroad had plans to rebuild and reactivate the facilities but instead opted for a new modern engine house once Guilford took over operations.
Interesting items visible in the background for the keen observer include the tower, high mast lighting, cabooses, an Alco road switcher, a Rock Island trailer, and some Berlin Mills boxcars.
The de Havilland DH.88 Comet was a British twin-engined aircraft designed for long-distance air races. It was known for its sleek design, fast speeds, and impressive performance in competitions such as the 1934 MacRobertson Air Race. Only a limited number of DH.88 Comets were produced, with several of them still flying today in airshows and exhibitions.
