One more from following WNYP's DFT train south to Driftwood on 9/18/2019. While they picked up their empties at Turtlepoint, the typical Eldred fog lifted in the valley and this shot just south of Port Alleghany was our first one in sun. The engineer on crew OL1 notched them out nice for us to make a run at the hill. The trees are just starting to have a hint of color but the goldenrod is in full bloom.

Eric and the Captain stroll into north Driftwood to do interchange with the NS. Today its giving back an empty oil train, then light back to Emporium.

Exiting Emporium, PA the Driftwood Turn's M636s erupt in a show of black smoke and pounding 16-cyl 251 music as they start to lift the train up the 2.6% grade to Keating Summit.

Not long before late afternoon shadows swallow the scene, train 925 gets the all clear out of Timaru and heads along the beach at Scarborough.

A number of ex-Magicbus Tridents have made their way south in recent months to see off the remaining Olympians, however their use will be short lived as they are not DDA complaint so will not survive beyond the end of December 2015. This explains why they have not been repainted into fleet livery.

Looking smarter than some of it colleagues, Stagecoach East Kent 17658 V158 DFT is seen on Woodchurch Road, Shadoxhurst, whilst working route 2A. Thursday 14th July 2016.

After arriving at CP South Driftwood, the DFT shoves their cars into the siding before heading back to North Driftwood for their northbound train.

On the return leg back to Olean, NY from Driftwood, PA, the Driftwood Turn comes into Port Allegany, the crew will switch out the glass manufacturer before heading onto Olean, NY and tying up.

The short length between Port Allegany and Turtlepoint hides a few pleasant spots in her bosom to accomplish the task of facelight on a northbound October's run, but not without sacrificing the length of train (in favor of not falling down the ditch). Still, a fine demonstration of Alcos in the woods of Pennsylvania would render it a worthy hike as the Driftwood approaches a set out of stone cars at Turtlepoint.

Twenty-five brand new Enviro 400 MMC vehicles will enter traffic at Folkestone and Hastings on the Wave group of routes on Sunday 4th December prompting a carefully orchestrated cascade the same weekend will allow the withdrawal of all non-DDA fleet members meaning the end of the use of the former Manchester Magicbus Tridents.

Approaching what could well be its final week in passenger service with Stagecoach South East, 17656 V156 DFT is seen on Station Road near Martin Mill having just turned off the A258 on the deviation via St Margarets at Cliffe whilst working route 15. Friday 25th November 2016.

After dropping off their cars at the south end of the siding, the Driftwood Turn heads towards North Driftwood engine light to get their cars for the northbound trip.

Pictured here in its last few weeks in service and wearing slightly more of its former "Magic bus" logos than other members transferred south, Stagecoach South East 17656 V156 DFT is seen on Mill Top between Nonington and Elvington whilst working route 89. Saturday 19th November 2016.

With the withdrawal of the last step entrance vehicles from the fleet earlier in the year attention now turns to the early low floor vehicles which are not DDA compliant these being the early Dennis Tridents.

One such vehicle due for withdrawal before the DDA-deadline for double deck vehicles comes into force at the start of next year is Stagecoach South East 17663 V163 DFT which is seen here departing from Hastings Station whilst working route 28. Tuesday 23rd August 2016.

The last batch of Magicbus Tridents sent down from Manchester still retain the distinctive livery as their use as described above will only be short lived.

Some of the local routes around Hastings certainly have some challenging terrain none more so than that of route 28 and the climb on Wellington Road out of the town in a Trident is certainly something to be experienced!

Having tackled that climb already, Magicbus liveried Stagecoach South East 17663 V163 DFT is seen here being dwarfed by pylons on Malvern Way located on the ridge above Hastings and Ore whilst working route 28. Tuesday 23rd August 2016.
