Things may go bump in the night........ deep, deep, deep in the very darkest parts of the Forest......an ancient Hornbeam stirs on this night of all nights. Un-pollarded for over a century it will take vengeance for this neglect and throw a mighty hunk of deadwood your way. It will devour the soul..of your shoe (or boot) and go hell bent for leather to find another. Do not look this hideous beast in the eyes for it will find your inner sanctums, your shyness and insecurity and beat you to a pulp with its mighty wisdom. Its weighty limbs will crush you with one blow and bury you in the ground to nourish the soil where its gnarly buttress roots await refreshment. Do not run, do not hide and do not sleep for the arboreal ghoul will find you a treat....and it doesnt like flippin Haribo or Smarties. Okay?
This beautiful speciman was busy devouring a frog on a limb at Jungle Island. He was not intimidated at all by our presence as he became part of the annual bird count.
Took this movie down at Dave’s dad’s. The little fawns we’re out like crazy and devouring his roses and other plants.
"Is it better to Out Monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?" ~Friedrich Nietzsche

Love a delicious wood burning oven pizza. Yes, one of them is my pizza cooking, and soon to be devoured by me. One of the best one in our city is at Fratelli Kanata.

Yesterday we walked along the coastline of the city of Santa Cruz. I had my camera and tripod with me, extra lens and filters in my pants pockets. We passed this person. Life is good.
I processed a balanced HDR photo from a single RAW exposure. I took bracketed exposures, but used only one because it had more distinct colors, and because the darks make the scene pop.

Taken at Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge - Please help identify this insect - appears to be some sort of grass hopper.
From Speech Path Girl:
"....these and your hand-size grasshoppers are the same species: Romalea microptera, better known as the Eastern Lubber grasshopper. These are juveniles; they'll lose the black coloring after their final molt into adulthood."
Before destroying the Devourer, I thought I'd take pictures of the updated model and also finish the LDD file to share it!
So it's now available on my website!
The Devourer was first spotted in the outer borders of M.A.N.T.I.S. territories, near planet Guinevere, sector A06. Not much is know about this vessel, but it seems to be some sort of symbiotic relation between the ship itself and a sort of tentacular creature. It attach to ships' hulls with the tentacles and fire energy weapons that cut deep inside its victims, through armourings and shields, vaporizing anything in its path. The creature then sucks and nourishes from the hot gaseous matter.
