Deva castle in Transylvania, Romania - it is now being rebuilt using pretty much the same techniques as originally (we felt sorry for the builders working in the hot sun). The castle has been in ruins ever since it blew up in 1849.

Déva vára Erdélyben - újjáépítése 2008 óta folyamatban van, nagyjából ugyanolyan technikával, mint amivel eredetileg is épült (1849-ben robbant fel, azóta romokban áll). Nem irigyeltük a kőműveseket ebben a hőségben...

Po Lin Monastery, Lantau Island

On both sides of the temple the four deva-kings are housed . The one in the East, the protector of the country, is holding a Pi-pa (a Chinese musical instrument) in his hands; the one in the South, representing proliferation, is holding a sword in his hand; the one in the West, known as the wide-eyed, is holding a dragon in his left hand and a pearl in his right; the one in the North is famous for his profound knowledge, and he is holding a pagoda in his right hand. The things they hold represents "wind", "harmony", "rain" and "stability" which are auspicious signs according to Chinese Tradition

La scène est prenante... une vrai femme de caractère qui nous plonge dans le passé...

Arriving at Deva, on the way to Timisoara, it looked like a deja-vu, with the name of the town written on top of the hill like in Brasov. It was a hot day so after making a little walk along the park and the palace we had to find a place in the shadow and were very thirsty.
