Almost as far as the eye could see there were windmills and the constant stream of boats going by

Mann Island on Liverpools waterfront, much debated with respect to the modern architecture, something which has grown on me over the years, now part of the Liverpool furniture.

Gornergratbahn, Zermatt.

The Gornergratbahn (GGB) is a 9 km long 1,000 mm gauge mountain rack railway, with Abt rack system. It leads from Zermatt, Switzerland (1,604 m/5,262 ft), up to the Gornergrat (3,089 m/10,135 ft).

# On EXPLORE #54. (2009.09.15)

Our destination for the day was the peak Picws Du\Bannau Sir Gaer which is the middle one on the right. It is the second highest peak of the Carmarthen Fans at 749m.

Still some way to hike.

It overlooks the beautiful lake, Llyn y Fan Fach.

If everything goes to plan this is where my ashes will be dumped, or at least, that's what I have requested.

So, as long as they can find one family member willing to drive down some of the narrowest lanes anywhere and then hike up here, it will be 'my' final destination :-)

It's not the best view in the world but it has fond memories.

I've posted a couple of pictures of my stay at Zimanga private game reserve before, but there are still many left. Ones that I personally really like.

A stay in the overnight hide is spectacular. Maybe not even for the sole purpose of photography (although every peace of equipment we had was set and ready to go; as were our nerves.. :-)) but maybe even more for the sheer experience.

Imagine spending the night underground. Your vision is narrow and more and more you rely on sound. Your ears pick up the tiniest of noises. You just know that there are elephants around you: branches breaking, chewing molars, rumbling stomachs, the occasional trumpeting call, but you can't see them.....

You wait and wait ... for hours. You just can't go to sleep because any moment now they can come into view..

And than there is that one magical moment....

He didn't stop, but just ran on towards something very interesting out of our viewing range. But just there and than, your heart skips a beat...

You almost stumble upon Lochan a Choire before you see it, appearing only at the very end of the hike in. We had to wait a few minutes for a group of (mad!) wild swimmers to finish their dip but, despite a lack of light on the mountain, it was definitely worth all the effort to reach here.

It was only back home on the big screen that i saw the second person...

This morning's plan was to sail down Røde Fjord marvelling at the red mountains and the icebergs. Thank you all for your views, comments and faves!

Drove back to Canada today. I'd hoped to see something on the side of the road that caught my eye, but everything I noticed was in an area that wouldn't have been safe to pull over. So when I saw this pull-in at the edge of the 1000 Island Parkway I jumped at the chance.

I had to climb down a steep and muddy hill to get this, so I'm glad it turned out. Anyone who knows me can tell you I'm very bad at inclines... even more so when there's mud involved!

There was only one more place I would have pulled over, but by the time I noticed it I was past it and couldn't pull in. Disappointing, it would have been a good shot.

Oh well, got a photo done and made it back to Ottawa with a little day light to spare! Not a bad deal!

Hope everyone has had a good day.

Trenord/TILO 524 201 on the track on the Gotthard-Line to the north of Switzerland. To Reykjavik? I think, it's a joke, the train was empty and there is no track from Switzerland to Iceland.
