Sterling silver woven almost like a spiral graph and pushed into a flower form is added to a dapped, drilled and annealed for color copper wheel, which is then cold connected to a sheet of brass that has also been dapped for just the right curve. Reclaimed, and vintage chain complete the look, fnished with a curly clasp!

Auch in Jüterbog war der Dominikaner Johann Tetzel als Ablassprediger aufgetreten, was Martin Luther im nicht weit entfernten Wittenberg veranlasst haben soll, seine 95 Thesen zu veröffentlichen. Man führte Gespräche mit Theologiedozenten und Studenten aus Wittenberg über die reformatorischen Ideen, gegen die sich der Jüterboger Guardian und einige Lektoren der Ordenshochschule abgrenzten, weil sie um die Einheit der Kirche fürchteten. Zu Ostern 1519 kam es in Jüterbog zu einem Streit zwischen Thomas Münzer und den Franziskanern, der durch öffentliche Predigten ausgetragen wurde. Der Lektor Bernhard Dappen richtete im Namen des Konvents eine Beschwerde an den Bischof von Brandenburg, die Martin Luther zugespielt wurde, worauf dieser den Jüterboger Franziskanern mit öffentlicher Bloßstellung „ihrer wunderlichen Weisheit“ drohte. Zwar verbot der Brandenburger Bischof die Predigt gegen Luther, aber die Einstellung der Brüder in Jüterbog trug dazu bei, dass die Sächsische Franziskanerprovinz insgesamt der Reformation kritisch gegenüberstand und in den folgenden Jahrzehnten die Schließung fast aller Klöster hinnehmen musste. While I was doing my enamel tests yesterday, I stupidly held the spoon above the kiln in hope of drying the enamel faster to return to the jar. Even though it was 6 inches above - it melted. Duh.
Lightbulb! After I was finfished with my project, I intentionally melted and formed the ring around the handle of a dapping tool.

Un des exploits les plus marquants, bien que sans valeur sportive, reste sans doute celui de l'escroc Victor Lustig, qui réussit en 1925 à vendre la tour Eiffel en pièces détachées à un ferrailleur[24]. Lustig, aidé de Dan Collins, surnommé « Dapper Dan », un acolyte rencontré à New York, avait lu comme tout le monde dans la presse la possibilité évoquée de démolir la tour Eiffel. Il en profita pour faire de faux documents du ministère des Postes et Télégraphes, organisme responsable de la tour, sélectionna les cinq plus importantes compagnies récupératrices de métaux ferreux qu'il convoqua à l'hôtel de Crillon, place de la Concorde, à Paris, soi-disant pour effectuer la transaction en toute discrétion. Seuls étaient censés être dans la confidence le président de la République, le ministre, le sous-ministre (incarné par Victor Lustig) et son chef de cabinet (incarné par Dapper Dan, son complice). Il leur annonça : « Messieurs, le gouvernement devra démolir la tour Eiffel ! Et vous êtes ici pour soumissionner ! », les conduit à la tour Eiffel en limousine qu'il leur fit visiter, puis sélectionna le ferrailleur le plus crédule, en lui annonçant qu'il avait gagné le marché. Celui-ci accepta de faire un gros chèque, représentant soi-disant la moitié de la moitié de la soumission, augmentée en plus d'un pot-de-vin !
Après avoir encaissé le chèque, les deux escrocs s'enfuirent pour l'Autriche. Quelques temps plus tard, ils revinrent à Paris pour retenter leur chance avec de nouveaux ferrailleurs, mais la police était sur le coup et les deux compères s'échappèrent en bateau à New York.

Beatrix first drew the little mouse Appley Dapply in 1891. Over the next ten years she invented new characters and composed verses inspired by traditional nursery rhymes. In 1905 she sent Norman Warne a manuscript containing 19 verses. Although he selected his favourites, the project was shelved. It wasn't until 1917 that Beatrix encouraged Frederick Warne & Co to publish a small selection with some of her original, and some re-worked, illustrations.

Celebrating the life and work of one of the best loved children's authors of the 20th century.
Beatrix Potter: Drawn to Nature is the first exhibition to tell the complete life story of Beatrix Potter, one of the best loved authors of children's fiction in the 20th century. Realised through a major partnership with the National Trust, this playful and interactive exhibition invites visitors of all ages to rediscover this household name and explore the full breadth of her achievements and multifaceted life, from storyteller to natural scientist and conservationist.
The exhibition showcases over 200 personal objects including artworks, rarely seen letters, manuscripts, sketches, coded diaries, family photographs, commercial merchandise and personal artefacts. It celebrates her early talent for storytelling, her business acumen and her fascination with the scientific study of the natural world, as well as her passion for sheep farming and conservation – a legacy still felt today.
Across four sections, the exhibition follows Potter's journey from London to the Lake District, where she eventually settled. The first section, Town and Country, provides a backdrop to her childhood in South Kensington in London; Under the Microscope highlights Potter's interest in natural science; A Natural Storyteller reveals her almost accidental journey to becoming a best-selling author; finally, Living Nature follows Potter to the Lake District and celebrates her profound impact on the natural landscape.

The green skirt is my 'sheet' metal, formed in my dapping block to create folds, enameled bitter green. The waist piece is from a domed copper disk that I had melted out the middle of, then enameled. The top part is from a copper tube that I had tried to squash and collapse in my vise, also enameled. Scrap 14 gauge wire holds them together and makes the legs. Some netting I had left over from texturing metal in my rolling mill creates the crinoline underskirt.

The designers had to use the clothes they slept in the night before plus one of their bedsheets to create a new look. They also had access to dye and trimmings.

Since this challenge was all about using what you have in an unexpected way, and since most of us don’t sleep in jewelry, the challenge this week is to make something only from material that is sitting on your bench! If you don’t have a bench or access to your studio, then choose another area like your desk. Since the designers got a sheet, we get some sheet metal. You are welcome to use enhancements like stones from your supplies. But the final piece should be made of a majority of your found pieces if possible
stamped and dapped, these mixed metal earring are all handmade with the letter D creating the design on both halfs of the sphere. I used copper, brass, aluminum and sterling silver for the headpins and ear wire.

These 20 gauge sterling silver cottonwood leaf earrings have been hand sawn, saw pierced with a jeweler's hand saw to illustrate the veins, dapped or domed into a 3 dimensional cottonwood leaf, and both now dangle from sterling silver ear wires. The silver cottonwood leaves measure 1" by 1" and the earrings have a drop of approximately 1 1/2 inches.
