Runners from the Keynsham 10k Road Race, which took place on Sunday 22nd May 2011, starting at The Sports Ground next to the former Cadbury's factory, Somerdale, Keynsham.
From here, after doing laps of the field and grounds o fthe factory, they headed up to the High Street and then into Charlton Road. The runners headed out of the town and then down Redlynch Lane to the small village of Chewton Keynsham, before heading back towards Keynham.
Back in the town, the course took them down Steel Mills, over Dapps Hill bridge and into Keynsham park. Avoiding Ducks on route, the yexited the other side before then heading down Cadbury’s main drive to the finish.
And I was tired just trying to keep up with then and take photos around the course.

More adventures in metal working! I learned a lot of things while making this ring. First, 24 gauge brass sheet turns your finger green, and is a little too thin to make a strong band (but it's so pretty!) Second, soldering is a lot of fun!
The band is cut brass that's been hammered and sanded. The disk of copper has been hammered, dapped, and sanded. The two bits are soldered together (yay me!). All patinas are from being heated during soldering. I have some pickle, but I refuse to use it :) I prefer the heat patinas.

I love my dapping block!
The center "stone" is a sheet of red brass, dapped, sanded, and heated. The base is a thick sheet of fine silver I made by melting leftover PMC and then putting it through a rolling mill. The band is sterling silver.
It wasn't my intention to make it look like an old globe, but I'm glad it does! You can't tell in the pictures too well, but the heat patina really looks like terrain.
Inspired by the painting "Persia" by George Barbier. Art bead pendant was created by myself using brass, nickel silver and copper disks. The bottom disc is stamped with a leafy fern design, and the other discs have been hammered, dapped and patina'd. Blue and green kyanite sticks are suspended from the pendant, and faceted orange carnelian rounds give it a color punch.
What you see before you is (I think) the first grappa to have been made in the UK. Originating in the Devon Distillery, DAPPA is the brainchild of a guy named Cosmo Caddy (strong name confirmed). The distillery itself is based in Teignbridge (which, if you hadn’t guessed, is in Devon…)
Anyhow, this is the 2013 vintage, the first they have created, and is produced mainly with Rondo and Pinot Noir grape skins. They also use smaller quantities of Regent and Dornfelder - presumably to shake up them spiritous flavours. The grapes are sourced from a number of prestigious English vineyards: think Sharpham, Three Choirs, Bolney, Biddenden and a few others.
Inspired by the style of grappa from Northern Italy, DAPPA is distilled by hand in Devon, using an Italian copper still, and under the supervision of a veteran Italian distiller. As for where to find it? They retail online, but the drink is also quite commonly available around Devon and the more fashionable bars in some of the bigger cities (think the HIX bars in London etc). This vintage also picked up a silver at San Francisco World Spirit Awards 2015 - which can only be a good thing…

Catching up, but still a bit behind. I made these rings a few weeks ago, but I really didn't like them, so I left them sitting on my bench. Today I decided to finish them. After a pickle bath, a tumble, and some patina, I really like them!
Each band has a different texture hammered on them. One has a 6mm garnet. One has a melted ball of copper. And one has a melted and dapped disk of fine silver. The bands are all sterling silver.
This was made for a challenge that had to have 4 different handmade textures and fit an "under the sea" theme. The pendant is sterling silver and copper. The textures I used is a smooth texture, hammered texture, texture from a cinder block and the seaweed is a combination of a dapping punch and tiny screwdriver ;)
The sun wouldn't cooperate with me so the photos aren't the best, I will probably be re-taking them at some point.
