Cyprus

One of the dogs found on the Island of Cyprus is the Cyprus Poodle. Some people say that the Cyprus Poodle is a cross between a poodle and a terrier. Today this small dog is sought after in other countries for their loving personality and attractive looks.

The Cyprus Poodle is such an attractive little dog with its jaunty personality and dense, curly hair. They stand in the region of 20 to 30cm high and can weigh roughly 3 to 6kg. They are a small dog. Their curly coat is woolly and can be in a number of different colours such as white, ivory or apricot or even other colours. They have floppy ears, a long tail and brown eyes.

They love swimming and they will require a bath every now and again to keep their beautiful coat clean and free of matting. The Cyprus Poodle is an even tempered dog and they make the perfect family pet, forming close bonds with their human family members. They are playful, social and friendly and get on well with children in the home as well as any other pets. They may be a small, friendly dog, but they will need training and socialisation if you want them to be obedient and relaxed around other people.

The Cyprus Rally is a rallying competition held yearly in Cyprus since 1970. The European Rally Championship is the European continental championship series in rallying. The Middle East Rally Championship (MERC) is a motor rally championship run under the auspicies of the FIA.

A monastery in the hills of western Cyprus, founded in the 12th century and dedicated to Our Lady of the Golden Pomegranate. There is a quality of deep peace and silence here - and they love their candelabras and chandeliers.

Agrós (Αγρός) is the main village of the Pitsiliá area in the Troodos Mountains in Cyprus. Some years ago a hotel was built there, the Ródon Hotel, which is a joined effort of the inhabitants and people originating from the village but are now in the bigger towns, in order to generate jobs and income for their village. The Rodon Hotel is very popular with both Cypriots and tourists visiting the Troodos region.

Agros produces mainly fruit. Therefore it has become a centre of processing these fruit into all sorts of preserves, jams, compote in small workshops run, mainly, by women of the village.

But the most characteristic product of Agros is the rose, the “Rosa X Damascena”, which is used for the production of rose oil, rosewater, toiletries and even a jam!
