Star trails with aeroplane, across the centre and some car lights, taken near Paphos airport

Cyprus day 4. Cape Greco again.

The last day at Cape Greco was more or less a repeat of day 3.

I started by driving down towards the concrete and wire fence with the hope of getting some better Cyprus wheatear shots. It was just after sun up but on the road I found a turtle dove. Still being in the car I simply rolled down the hill towards it. It was still very dark hence ISO 1000.

Cyprus day 7. Agia Varvara.

I decided to start the day trying for some better little crake shots. This proved to be a poor decision in that as the birds got closer they were in the shade and the light was poor anyway being just after dawn. This is one from in the shade and required ISO 1000.

After an hour or so I went to Asprokremmos dam but saw nothing new there.

One of the recent single deckers imported into Cyprus is former London Optare Tempo LX09BGV. Operated by Stavros Louka from a base near Xylotymbou in South East Cyprus its regular duty is a school contract. One of two Tempos on the Island ( for now ;) , it joins a happy club of Optares which include a citypacer, alero, and spectra all settling there in recent times. These tempos may well be re-engineered mechanically to a more simple and basic specification in the future.

We returned to Cyprus after a 8 years. Little has changed apart from far more early season tourists, much busier roads and many new villas, sadly our peaceful retreat, the Akamas Peninsular has been badly degraded by off road vehicles and a jeep ferry service to the once empty beaches so we went elsewhere. This bird was really our target, we were never able to see them close before but were really lucky this time
