Necropolis -
The necropolis of ancient Paphos, an area of dry grass, scrub and rock-cut tombs by the seashore - and in use up to about the third century CE. It still has a desolate air even today despite the efforts of the local authorities to tart it up and present it as a tourist magnet. I guess the dead never leave.
