O Shoe O Sand

Funereal cold winding sheets of water

And my uncorked last stand

My Bald pate and my Bejeweled hand

Just barely visible and O shoe O sand

Yes I am drowning in the Red Sea of your Heart

This was what the Maker intended

A suitable end to an unsuitable start.

I could have floated in the Dead Sea of your heart

Undrowned..but misery my epitaph

Scrawled in blood

On the blood shredded waters of your heart.

You love

Love more beautiful and more smart

I shall die untenanted,,

Unrepentant Unweeping waters of you heart.

Cyberspaced love

Uncrafted Unrafted fiercly furious waters of your heart.

O Shoe O sand bare feet minstrel sings

In the cold wall to wall waltzing waters of your heart

explanation. for the very smart. or reader of hidden words.

Shoe is my phallic longings to have been hung from the door of her heart and sand is cotton wool that you throw in a mans eye when you know he is a dwarf dimwitted.. Dumb..drivelled doggerelled to a deaf and dead heart...

One year ago, I uploaded my very first picture on Flickr.

One year ago, I was looking for a suitable photo sharing website and I found Flickr. I had no idea what I was doing, who was going to look at my pictures, and ironically, I thought that it would just be like that - putting a picture on a website, letting it disappear into the vacuum of cyberspace, and then forgetting that I ever had an account. It wasn't even a very good picture, it was just one of those random ones you take when you see something you think is nice.

One year later, I'm about one hundred and twenty nine days away from finishing my 365, fingers bruised from continuously catching them in the slits of the tripod, a lot more jaded about everything than I used to be, still that same girl who can't take very good pictures, but endeavors on - for something, but I haven't figured out that something, yet.

Paul Kneale: Recycling: In this exhibition Brantford artist Paul Kneale examines the physical dimensions of digital imagery. Influenced by the histories of scanography and xerography, Kneale uses inexpensive flatbed scanners to produce large scale scanner paintings. His approach simultaneously breaks from the canon of Modernist abstraction while leading contemporary painting in new directions.

Using an unpredictable and laborious process, Kneale builds layers of low and high-resolution scans with the machine’s lid open and nothing resting in the copy bed. What is captured by the scanner are traces of ambient light contained in the ether of the artist’s studio that, when gathered together, forge a complete image.

These “impressions,” as he describes them, have found their way into previous works and will again be utilized in the future, signaling a recycling of visual archetypes into new compositions. Moreover, Kneale’s scanner paintings stretch the expanses of space-time by overlaying quick low-res scans over slow high-res scans so that particular moments and atmospheres are documented. Not only does this allow viewers to read Kneale’s work as paintings, scans, or photography, but it also opens their interpretation to a form of experimental cinema.

Kneale questions how the Information Age and cyberspace have undermined and dehumanized intimate and collective relationships. To counteract this, his impressions are approached as layers of flesh that reintroduce human elements into the cold frame of the digital image.

"Just another deep dive into one of many domains that I've claimed... the infamous Shadow.net. A deep, dark place, feared by many. They say it's dangerous to dive too many times or to linger for long. Not with the hardware and software that I've acquired over the years. I don't share my secrets with many and I have my ways of guarding such. I've made my peace with this dark plane of existence and this is where I plan to ascend, when my time comes."

Galagan, a man of strong determination, now began to decipher the riddles of the map. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, as Galagan followed the tracks to Goatswood. But now he was almost there, he knew where to begin his final search. Here he was, at Mortchester station. The starting point of his journey into the heart of darkness.

And yet he was plagued by doubts as to whether the decision was the right one, whether he was taking the right path by setting off in search of a dark place, or whether he would not be better off heading for a friendly place like Innsmouth.

Miss Russia, born on the last day of summer, according to the zodiac - Virgo. Representatives of this sign are characterized by an analytical mindset, accuracy, practicality, attentiveness, prudence, exactingness. Virgo is sensitive to the energy of others and rarely makes mistakes. Due to the perfectionism inherent in Virgos, she strives for perfection in everything. Her penchant for innovation and experimentation led her to create a style inspired by the avant-garde fashion of one of Japan's leading designers, Rei Kawakubo, which brought the unfinished garment philosophy to fashion.

Miss Russia emphasized her image with beautiful maidens circling to the sounds of enchanting music in a round dance - an ancient folk ritual dance of the Eastern Slavs in Rus'.

Miss Russia's gown features an impressive range of white, silver and violet blue, bringing hope and an omen of a brighter future through a mysterious star-studded night sky.

What does a heroin junky dolphin do in Nighttown?

- Well I guess dreaming of electric sheep or riding the horse.

But hey, what else could a wave-riding animal enjoy when being imprisoned in a technological cage.

Inspired by Gibson's Mnemonic featuring Jones in his tank and Jones' cyberspace ego riding the crystal edges of the matrix.

This whole apperatus might also be a spaceship of the dolphins if they take over evolutions next phase. Travelling time and space and folding the universe just like the space Navigators of the Imperial Guild.

new years resolutions: 1. write more things by hand. letters, journaling, etc. not everything should be left to the gods of cyberspace. some things should be tangible. 2. branching out photographically. not sure what that means yet but i want to stretch myself creatively and not become stagnant.

nice to see you, 2013. i hope you bring good things. i'll bring you the best i've got.

Shameless self- (group-) promotion! Twenty five recently-encountered shots of superb imagination and flair - including a fair number from (or hopefully soon-to-be from) the UK Railway Mainline Station Roofs Group. Cathedrals of light!

But even with the map, the search proved more difficult than he had expected. He came across weathered signs written in a language he didn't know and abandoned huts that spoke of times gone by. Residents of nearby villages whispered fears and warnings about Goatswood, but these stories only stoked Galagan's resolve.

One day, when he had almost lost faith, Galagan found a strange, man-made-looking set of menhirs. They showed a path through a maze of trees and hills, and so he continued on his way, driven by some inexplicable force. Finally he reached a clearing from which the eerie silhouette of Goatswood loomed. From it emanated an eerie presence that permeated the air.

The international group of artists in Ghosts of the Machine reminds us that despite its otherworldly lustre, cyberspace cannot be separated from the “real world”. It is an extension of our societies, economy, and ecosphere. Through the glowing interfaces associated with digital media, these artists constantly point back to the world offline. By defying the imaginary boundary between online and offline worlds, they slip across other made-up binaries: between human versus nonhuman, technology versus nature. They reveal how these things do not exist in opposition to each other, but are in fact continuous and fluidly interconnected.

Trumpeter Swans

Trumpeter Swans are the largest of waterfowl with a wing span reaching eight feet. They can weigh as much as thirty pounds. That’s a lot of bird to lift off the surface of a lake and move through the air with grace and speed. Their flight seems slow and plodding because of their large wings but it is an optical illusion. They have no trouble flying fifty mph or faster. I once saw a big cob chase and catch an interloping Canada Goose as though it were standing still. I have a photograph somewhere in cyberspace of this huge swan with its snaking neck and wide open bill descending on the back of a panicked goose.

Trumpeters are absent the little yellow marking between the bill and the eye which is peculiar to Tundra Swans. They are also more curious and docile. Year round resident pairs on sediment ponds, for example, may allow humans to approach fairly close. They always seem quite regal to me as though they viewed the other creatures of their pond as their subjects and charges.

I remember a pair at the Hatfield Lakes east of Bend, Oregon. After drifting in their large pond for about an hour, they would be seized by the sudden urge to survey their kingdom. Circling the perimeter of the entire lake, her Ladyship Pen in the immediate wake of King Cob, they would toot the alarm on their trumpets if they spotted anything out of the ordinary. Of course that was often me waiting with lens ready for ducks to swim by. Getting such a large bird flying so close completely in the frame with my fixed lens was quite a challenge. The pair would circumnavigate that large lake in less than a minute — flying low without the aid of any current — driven solely by the beat of their powerful wings.

I never saw them go after a raiding eagle but I would not be surprised if they did. They seemed fearless of coyotes and dogs. Nonetheless, they are a species which needs help to survive. Before they were protected, they were hunted almost to extinction. They do not harken to the call of the wild tundra like their smaller kin. They often collide thoughtlessly with the high power lines. Because they are year-round residents, they have also been more vulnerable to poisoning from lead shot (no longer legal). I have heard that they do not do well at Harney Lake and Lake Malheur because of the huge carp infestation.

Summer Lake, Oregon with its wide, shallow ponds fed by warm spring water which never freezes is ideal Trumpeter Swan habitat. Re-introduction centers, where Trumpeters are raised, have been sending juveniles to Summer Lake for several years. The goal is to reach 75 with several nesting pairs. It seemed like I saw about 30 or 40 on Schoolhouse Lake this winter. They were in small flocks mingled in with larger Tundra Swan flocks.

All of the re-introduced Trumpeters have big bright green plastic collars (ankle bracelets too) with numbers on them. I have cloned away many of them in photoshop. One of the reasons for these garish collars may be to make them easily distinguishable in case they fly off to Utah or Montana with some Tundra Swans. Those are two of the six states in the USA where Tundra Swan hunting is legal. Hunting regulations no doubt stipulate not to shoot anything wearing Irish green.

Two Berlin photographers/artists/gallerists inviting three international guests from cyberspace: as the title suggests, an associative collection of freshly combined, mostly handmade works, focussing on original photography, at this cozy little place in an up-and-coming “Moabit art mile”.

BLACK NAPKIN from Italy, a poetic artist and archeologist, shows NOTHING PERSONAL: “The world is full of images, virtual images. We see more images per day than our grandmothers saw throughout their lives.” He tries to reflect on the value and selection of images and words.

CORINNE GLAZIOU, a dancer / photographer / medical biologist from France, offers CRYPTOZOOLOGY: “Collages and assemblages allow me to evolve with unlimited freedom in a space like a dancer on a little scene, playing with different energies”.

TATI S. TITCH, a young, universal, instant and streetart producer: “What really disturbs me: shifts of priorities in people’s minds. We have stopped looking up at the stars, too concentrated on entertainment and consuming.” So her series KOSMOS is about space as an alternative.

GRITTA ROESING’s installation FIREWALLS OF HUMAN RIGHTS contains hand-written articles of the UN declaration of the human rights on oversized B/W shots of demolished houses along the former Berlin Wall – “a vivid memorial”.

BLANCA.art creates her own flood of imagery in MOCK MURALS, loose clusters of her color pictures and drawings – opposed by I GOT YOU, an old, bandaged album filled with “rough and tough collages from an earlier stAge”.

January 28, 2007 I joined Flickr. I never imagined what a life changer it would be......

The joy of meeting [ thru cyberspace] so many wonderful people/ photographers worldwide has been overwhelming.

Flickr has motivated me immeasurably to take my photography more seriously. How awesome to view everyone else's images and to learn so much.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments and visits every day. Although this site has been an addiction that can get in the way of real life....to me it's a fairly healthy addiction.

I was experimenting with water drops today and decided to switch things up and use milk for a couple of shots. Not getting the effect that I was looking for, I decided to add a little food color to oil...the result immediately made me think of Flickr as a planet where we reside, here in cyberspace... : )

Working on a type of summation, letting it develop as it will. I have no idea where it will lead.

I obviously did not follow my own advice. To work now in cyberspace, with A.I., is quite a relief, there being nothing to send to the city dump.
