This table is built of solid alder - Alder is a "green" wood here in the pacific northwest and is considered sort of a weed. It is no heartbreak to cut them down and make beautiful pieces out of them.

This is what the arrangement looks like when the curtains are in place on the window inside the bay alcove. This telescoping effect gives the optical illusion that the space is larger than it actually is.

I tried to make an abstracted open mouth, looks okay. It's very wear resistant. Great wool for covering furniture.
