GIANT WASP, THE HIVE TERROR.
Happy #monstermonday folks!! This one is a familiar build I'm sure to some of you, as I gave a lil sneak peek of it a couple weeks ago. This was the encounter from the fourth Montown Mob quest post in which Marybeth the Kenku Barbarian went into cave at the behest of an herbalist, and fought a remarkably large insect!
Getting the shaping of the abdomen to curve was pretty fun, though the wings were a bit tricky. Originally, I thought about using the translucent wing pieces from a Hero Factory set, but they ended up wayyy put of scale, so I settled on these for the long, sharp-looking wings that yellowjackets have! What do you think? Did this build make you shudder at the thought of a wasp this big in real life?
M-3PX
aka Threx
It is unknown as to the exact origins of M-3PX. An obvious conglomeration of multiple droids the overriding carapace is a 3PX unit. If "Threx" is to be believed he is part of the original Cybot Galactica 3PX series release. Pre-ordered by a Hutt as a body guard/ translator.
After a foiled attempt (Due to Threx's direct influence as he tells it) on the Hutt's life, a damaged M-3PX was tossed into a scrap heap on Ryloth as "Defective Poo-Doo".
Threx was not as badly damaged as outwardly appearances seemed. Over time with the help of a friendly scavenger, he rebuilt himself performing regular upgrades and avoiding memory wipes.
When the scavenger died he manumitted M-3PX in accordance with Old Republic Law, believing M-3PX to be sentient. Some recognize this...some learn to. Though as time has passed, even M-3PX questions the validity of a legal document produced by a Government that no longer exists.

My first freebuild for LCC. I would have liked to have built this with a more bleak tone to match the story better, but alas I am lacking in brown and dark green foliage, so I had to make do.
Cold was the wind that howled through the forests of Lenfald. And a bitter cold it was, that blew down from the North and cut to the bone, an unfamiliar chill, alien, and strange, all but unknown to the kinder wilds of Southern Lenfald.
It was in this numbing draft that a man strode through the wood. Quickly, but with a silence possessed only by those native to the landscape, he continued on his path, seemingly impervious to the unnatural gale.
It was then that a sound was heard, barely audible against the screeching of the wind. A simple snap, as if a twig or banch had fallen victim to the unceasing gusts. What would have been dismissed by most was not lost on the man, as he turned to face the source of the aberrant noise.
A young boy stood there, not much older than 17 by the look of him, axe and sword ready in hand. He shook, though not from the cold, and the axe fell from his unsteady hand, as if he were unsure why it was ever there.
"You-you're him aren't you? The one hunting us."
"Aye." the man replied, unmoved by the fear in the boy's voice.
"I- I'm not like the others, I don't mean any harm! I just needed the coin- my sister, she doesn't have anyone else..."
"Doesn't matter boy. You've a price on your head now. To me, and all the rest of the world, you're a dead man." A grim finality echoed through the statement.
The wind continued to shriek through the forest as the man moved forwards towards the terrified lad, a solemn purpose to his step.
"Please, you can't do this, don't do this- I can't leave her behind, I CAN'T" The lad yelled in fear, tears streaming down his fact as he swung the sword wildly toward the approaching reaper.
It was over in seconds. A sidestep, and then a short painful snap was heard, and the cries ceased. The boy gazed down in horror at his now-broken arm, his fast-chilling hands still grasping the hilt of his father's sword as it now seemed to sprout from his stomach.
Strength failed him then, as he stumbled backwards, trying desperately to form some intelligible words, as if to leave the world with some memory that he had been there, that he had existed. It was nothing the man hadn't seen before, and he watched as the lad's features changed, from shock, to anger, to sadness, and finally fear, as his eyes glazed over, and a final, ragged breath left his body.
He left him there, at the foot of some long-forgotten statue, a stone guardian long since fallen into disrepair, the blood still pooling over the forest floor. Cold was the wind that blew that day; Colder still was the heart of the hunter.
I wanted to play around with the new Nexo Knights pieces and thought about Tony having attachable limbs to help with larger jobs. Happy with the outcome.
MARYBETH, THE KENKU BARBARIAN.
This is my second character for the Greymane's Haven Adventuring Guild ongoing challenge hosted over on @greymane_guild om Instagram! As these characters come together, you may start to notice a theme...
Marybeth is a frightening, small, yet imposing raven-like humanoid known as a Kenku, and is a Barbarian of the Path of the Berserker. She wields a number of bone daggers and shortswords handcrafted and sharpened by her best friend, Sythil, and employs them to devastating effect. Though she has an impeccable memory when her interest is piqued, her selective enthusiasm often ends up coming back to bite her when a mission isn't completed quite how the client requested it to be. Her intense gaze and movements often unnerve those not familiar with her behavior, but her allies know that her loyalty runs somehow deeper than even her ferocity.
Mr. Freeze and his henchmen are robbing a bank but there is one person who does not approve this. The Dark Knight is in charge and he is going to cancel the withdrawal.
In January 2021, we were approached by Google, via the creative agency Stink Studios, to create 10 custom designs for them. They also tasked us with producing 10 copies of each as gift sets! We are finally able to share with you the work we did! We thoroughly enjoyed working with Google and Stink Studios on these sets and they were ecstatic with the results. We hope you enjoy them as well!

Custom Judge Dredd Minifig, all accessories were hand made, Helmet is a custom I made using the base of a Brick Forge Hoplite Helmet and built on from that.
This is of course based on the comic version of Dredd, not that ridiculous movie version staring Sylvester Stallone
Damn, I just can't make good names for my pics, can't I? xP Anyways, I was testing some simple and "clean" combos here.
Tell me what you think!
An other custom success or thumbs up hand, I made it to add some expression and life to my minifigs.
It is made with 3d printing and avalable on shapeways to make your minifigs very proud.

This is Yotsuba. She's the main character of one of my favorite mangas, "Yotsuba&!" by Kiyohiko Azuma.
The hair is sculpted out of greenstuff and it wasn't necessary to paint it because her hair needs to be green :)
To paint the other parts I used Revell Aqua Colors. It's the first time I painted a whole face but I'm happy with how it turned out. I also shortened the legs to make her smaller.
Hope you like it! :)

Growing up, one of my favorite PS2 games was Scooby Doo: Night of 100 Frights. With all the cool crazy monsters you encounter in that game, it's such a shame that LEGO only made a handful of villains.
I knew this guy as the monster in Night of 100 Frights with the crazy laugh! He's very silly, and a character I would LOVE Lego to actually make.

CHRISTMAS TREANT, THE FESTIVE FIR FELLOW.
Happy #monstermonday and Happy Holidays! This is my entry into the #HolidayMonsterSmash challenge being hosted by @bricksanFELLOW. over on Instagram, and is a build I've been excited to make for quite a while! The Christmas Treant is a creature that would fit perfectly in a holiday-themed D&D one-shot, and opens up a lot of fun possibilities for story. How long has the treant been festive? Who decorates the treant? Is the decor itchy? How do they get the topper on? While in my world, the holiday isn't called Christmas, there is, in fact, a festive treant whose story inspired the tradition of decorating trees for those that celebrate. For a fun little bit of lore regarding it, read on! Swipe through to the end to see the Treant both alternatively decorated in ornaments and undecorated!
Ages ago, when the Dwarven holiday of Gotmas was still in its infancy, there existed a quaint little village nestled into the Lower Gottim Mountain Range. The village was known for being one of the few Dwarven settlements that saw snow fall in the winter. The village had befriended an ancient creature known as a Treant—a living, walking, thinking tree—and had many years of friendship with the being. They would often trade gifts, and occasionally play light-hearted pranks on each other. One fateful Gotmas Eve, however, a group of young Dwarves in the village noted that the Treant never had any holidays to celebrate, and planned to rectify it with a practical joke of their own.
That night, while the Treant was rooted and fast asleep, the Dwarves snuck out with a coil of colorful magelights affixed to a white, silvery rope—the same kind of garlands they decorated their homes with. They crept into the grove where the Treant slept and set themselves to work. Vibrant twinkles of blue, red, yellow, and green now lit up the ancient being, topped off with a golden star ornament. When the Dwarves were done decorating, they woke up the Treant, grins plastered across their faces. When the Treant awoke, however, he did not revel in their amusement, for he thought the young Dwarves had set him on fire. The Treant found a newfound pep in his step and chased the Dwarves through the woods, their laughter quickly turning to panic.
When the Treant had finally reached the village, and the Dwarvish youths had run out of breath, he stopped, and looked around. People had started to come out of their houses at the commotion of the Treant's thunderous footsteps, and beheld the sight. As the Treant surveyed the Dwarves he had called friends, and they surveyed him, they began to ooh and ah. The crowd that had gathered started to remark on how lovely the Treant looked in the magelights, and how fitting the gold star atop the canopy was. The Treant slowly began to see that the decorations that covered his leafy branches matched those that the Dwarves had strung up on their roof eaves.
"Merry Gotmas, Mr. Treant!" cried the young Dwarves, who had finally caught their breath. The crowd began to chime in, echoing their sentiment, and wishing good tidings to the ancient plant. The Treant started to laugh, as the Dwarves gathered around him and sung their Gotmas songs, dancing and playing in the colorfully lit night. Since that fateful Gotmas Eve, the tradition of decorating trees in ornaments and magelights began to spread to all who celebrated Gotmas. It's said that each year, the youths of that village still go up into the woods to decorate the Treant, and bring him gifts. To Dwarves all around the world who celebrate the age-old tradition of Gotmas, there's no question about it: it's truly the most wonderful time of the year.
