In honor of November's COP at Belem, here is my latte art that illustrates the passage of ocean currents. Also I can't do latte art 😁

Sorry for my shaking hands, I was having trouble to avoid casting a shadow :)

This is my current group of minifee's, Liria is missing (she has no body right now, and Cacey, Niran and the new girl Shushu are waiting for faceups) At least Shushu made her first appearance here, even though I've had her since September.

Back to posting current photos :-)

I could have recovered more shadow detail, but chose not to, but chose instead to make it look more like how my eyes saw the seen

A large female Chum salmon prepares to navigate some fast water. This individual is in prime condition. Note the spawning colours while still retaining body fat.

Currently running as a government-funded public service under an Emergency Measures Agreement (EMA) with Transport Scotland, the Caledonian Sleeper Up Highlander makes it way through Acton Bridge at the start of another glorious late-May day in Cheshire.

GB Railfreight's most prolific engine on the sleeper trunk runs - and a veteran of the British Rail era - 92018 was once again at the helm.

A revised timetable was in operation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with only the Inverness and Glasgow portions running and splitting/joining at Edinburgh to form one train in each direction on the WCML.

This is a treacherous body of water when the current runs fast. it is full of back wash currents and other tricky eddies that make it hard to navigate. ( mostly to submerged drop offs and rock outcroppings which you can see in low water. )

Former Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge and Restaurant located at 513 Spring Branch Rd. in Dunn,NC. The motor lodge was demolished in 2008 while the restaurant is still standing and is currently occupied by an independently owned restaurant operating under the name Brass Lantern Steak House. After dropping the HJ name in 1989 the property operated under the name Dunn Budget Inn, a name that would carry on until the motor lodge closed in 2007. The restaurant likely outlasted the motor lodge for a couple of years as the Brass Lantern didn't open until 1992.. The interior of the restaurant has been completely renovated leaving behind nothing from its days as Howard Johnson's. Despite the interior renovations the exterior while modified still retains its original shape and even has its decorate stone block wall on the side of the building.

Been having an admittedly difficult time feeling particularly driven in any clear direction the last month. This shot rather embodies an unfortunate state of mind. Hoping the funk subsides. Or, rather, that a new inspiration comes by to kick my ass back into gear.

a show about my grandparents

My grandfather passed away in July 2006. My grandmother in October of 2008. Apart from my parents no 2 people had a more profound influence on me growing up. Their personalities, quirks, likes, dislikes were woven into my life in such a seamless way. In many ways I owe my artwork to them. My grandmother as she taught me how to crochet and knit and was an avid embroiderer. My grandfather as he taught me to love tools and how to take things part. Both of them taught me to be curious and work hard [traits that serve artmaking well].

One of the functions of making art for me is acknowledging the past – connecting with and seeking to understand the nostalgic. I also often look to the “mundane” and the “domestic” - searching for small moments and objects that ultimately signify something greater than what they appear to be. I am also keenly interested in gender – what signifies and constitutes something as masculine or feminine? In rendering objects that may be seen as “male” or “female” can I alter or emphasize the perception, or can I create some sort of hybrid take on them as objects?

In my work I often leave long threads dangling – to me these threads emphasize the physicality and “drawing” nature of the work [they also pull the work away from “straight” embroidery]. The threads elude to time passing. In some instances they begin to hint at decay, things fraying and pulling at the seams. In my mind our memories start to have dangling threads as time passes – things are not as clear – they become fuzzy... The threads become longer. In other instances the thread highlights connections – moments where similarities are shared. And for me ultimately thread is a drawing device – like a pencil or pen – the thread simply has a different historical reference point than charcoal or ink. [The connotations of “women’s work” and “craft” are also things that intrigue me].

These pieces are about what I remember as a child with my grandparents. What they wore, what they drove, what they played, where cancer invaded their lungs. Although they are in essence highly personal there is, I hope, intrinsically a universality to them as well. I’m sure there are people who have their own memories or associations with whisks, pliers, track suits, and American Matzo. These are just pieces of his and her story.

While the mountains, clouds, and rainbow make this is a beautiful scene, the current in these waters made it a potentially dangerous one as well.

At the surface it didn't look like this water was moving very fast, but underneath there was a significant current. Dive in off the back and all the sudden you're 20 feet away from the boat swimming back against a lot of moving water.

Here and at most of our stops we threw out a line with a buoy on the end. Sarah and Kel are holding on for a ride in the current.

Major confussion: i want a mystic miel, and sooner or later i will add that one to my family. BUT! i like elves, and i love Cullen but the vampire role hasn't been a main role at all in my family. She/ he is neglected. so, what to do?

let go of cullen and give the elf a faceup? Let go of elf and get a mystic later on, which may have elf ears so i'd have 2 in one??

Let go of both and then get a mystic when they are released again??

I think before i decide i may give elf a new faceup in greys like Cullen and then decide who stays.

But That darn Cullen looks always awesome in pics!

Why. Is. This. So. Hard!!!!!!!!!???

While I was outside shooting the sunset tonight, 100 or more turkey vultures were gliding through the heavy wind current directly above the lake. It was a beautiful sight, with the firey clouds providing a perfect background.

It's the day after Thanksgiving ... everybody fat and happy?!

It's not that big compared to my usual wishlists. I'm pretty done with Bratz right now. Which is fine since I'll be having a lot more of money to spend on other things :) I don't feel the need to collect anyone of them, including Bratzillaz. This is my wishlist for dolls that are currently available. I have some more Monster High things that I want that aren't out yet. Basically all the new characters. I wanted the Scaris cafe too but I'm afraid it won't fit in my vitrine case with all the dolls ): I wish I could buy it to try it out but that's not an option ;P I'll have to look at it again in the store to judge if it will fit.

I realized once again it's not easy to take a group shot.

Now the number of my momokos is eighteen.

I found that display in Lisbon and fell into it..

Dimensions in a current time is catching my mind and mostly makes me feel like we are not living only in one time but also living in times and layers between the objects around us.

Additionally, the projections and reflections of the people and personality creates more of that. That diversity is something I have got always tangled which makes me feel like sometimes insane other times happy to notice.

Current owner since April 1997.

This Mondeo looked nigh on showroom fresh with not a bit of duct tape in sight! The scrappage scheme seemed to have finished most of these off, but fortunately this one is close to 25 years with the same owner.

This is my favorite summer food...fresh local mussels cooked in white wine, garlic and onions and a bit of olive oil.....basil at the last minute before serving...and always with a baguette of French bread and a glass of red. cy365 195/365 'Currently Loving

This is where I currently stand with my experiments to make hollow beads in a single go. It is not perfect, but maybe someone can improve on it. There is a second picture with an analysis of the pros and cons.

Make a center pull ball (also called center pull skein) from a non meltable/not too flammable yarn (mine is cotton). I always suffer greatly through this step, so my technique is probably not very good, and I won't give it here. This is a yarn ball where the end of the thread comes out from the middle of the ball. If you pull on the end, the whole will come starting with the middle of the ball.

Cover the ball as you wish with polymer clay (here, it was translucent fimo with a bit of alcohol inks), leaving out the end coming out of the middle of the ball.

Bake as usual.

To remove the core, just pull on the end of the yarn.

Triangular Currents Tessellation back

This is a fairly simple tessellation idea- enough that someone else has probably designed it, though I'm not sure who would have designed it.

The sort of undulating effect of the triangular molecules led to the name. I quite like the visual effect of this, regardless of the designer.

Given my current abundance of un-posted photos, I'm trying something new. Not only will I post a "Photo of the Day" to Flickr each day, but also to DisneyTouristBlog.com. Click here to check out today's Photo of the Day there!

Manta Ray, manta alfredi, feeding along a plankton filled current line

I've been mainly working on the S15 lately, but am considering putting it on hiatus until more parts become available in Olive Green. Yes, the tender is too long, but I've opted for that arrangement of motor and bogie, rather than going down the route of an axle-motor-axle arrangement, disguised as 2 bogies. And the cab is currently impossible to build for real, it's just an idea of the shape.

The Ivatt 2MT is becoming more appealing a project at the moment, being a black engine and therefore not having the aggro of working in a ridiculously rare colour. I also saw a real one recently and really like the look of the proto. This project would be an attempt at a Bricktrix-style loco, with the wierd tapered boiler thing going on, and lots of pipework.

Whichever one I'll commit too, I probably won't get a chance to build it till the summer, probably in time for STEAM.

Currently storing buses waiting disposal.

some items i'm working on.

I came across these books at a church rummage sale this summer, unexpectedly discovered on a trip. Currently reading the first volume, and hope the universe provides the third volume of the trilogy before I finish the second. Time travel, asteroid mining, private enterprise space exploration, intelligent squids, supersmart children, and so much more.

Manifold Time

Manifold Space

Manifold Origin

Phase Space (short stories)

Though I am still in the first novel, I understand these are not sequential volumes, but rather alternative futures with the same characters. I will let you know how that works out, sometime in the future in some space.

I really like the dust jacket design of these two books side-by-side.
