This vendor of "The Big Issue" did some guerilla marketing and quickly used the mike to remind people that The Big Issue, a current affairs and entertainment magazine, only costs $4, and $2 of that stays directly with your vendor.

I'm glad he did it too, because the guy who was speaking - in the blue shirt - was REALLY bad. He spoke for at least 20 minutes in a fast, angry voice that was very unpleasant to listen to. He covered, in brief, just about everything that the pseudo-left is meant to be angry about at the moment. I haven't found his name yet, but he was from the Refugee Action Collective.

Photographers and cameramen gather at Glasgow Airport's perimeter fence for the arrival of an Afriqiyah Airways Airbus A300-600 jet which will carry Abdel Basset al-Megrahi back to Tripoli, Libya later that day.

On 31 January 2001, Abdel Basset al-Megrahi was convicted, by a panel of Scottish Judges sitting in a special court of 270 counts of murder for his part in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, on 21 December 1988.

Megrahi was sentenced to life imprisonment. Suffering from terminal prostate cancer, with less than three months to live, he was freed on compassionate grounds by the Scottish Government on 20 August 2009. His release was met with controversy. His co-accused, Al Amin Khalifa Fhimah was found not guilty and was acquitted.

I started working as a staff reporter in the newsroom of the London Sunday Times - fifteen years after joining the Sutton & Cheam Herald in 1964. It was the best job I ever had - being a small part of one of the world's best newspapers, with one of the world's greatest editors - Harold Evans at the helm.

The Wrath, The Return, The Truth examines real events and current affairs and considers how they continue to shape our nation and the world. This far-reaching spiritual guide explores the condition of todays church and presents a vision for the future of mankind. In 1996, diabetes sufferer Daniel Osorio suddenly lost his eyesight while driving on a highway. That night, while he slept, he began to experience extraordinary revelations that caused him to question world events. Here, using prophetical insight and the word of scripture, Osorio delves deep into some of the most momentous events of the twenty-first century, including the presidential elections, the World Trade Center catastrophe, earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, and floods. Osorio includes a comprehensive biblical account of the events leading up to the second coming of Christ. Offering dream interpretation as well as a compelling analysis of what many churches may be omitting or inappropriately teaching, Osorio boldly puts forth a new world order. Will the church, New York City, and the world be prepared for what is likely to come? Find out as you join Osorio on an introspective and spiritual journey to make peace with the past and summon hope for a better future. About the Author Daniel Osorio was born in New York City. He has worked as a senior recruiter in an educational program, served as a legislative assistant to a councilman, and helped the disadvantaged within his community for more than ten years.

I have no idea why this newspaper was here, but it struck me as odd, so I snapped a pic of it.

Perhaps, when the door was boarded up, they had newspaper pushed around it to try to keep bugs/weather out?

I picked up a roll of film for my Dad's camera on his birthday this year. I hadn't used his Canon T50 before, and it's been a few years since I used film, but I was up for the challenge of manual focus and trying to make each picture count. Twenty four exposures later, I can't say I prefer film over digital but I enjoyed every frame regardless.

Minister Naughten Launches TG4 News and Current Affairs Archive!

Communications Minister Denis Naughten TD, today launched the recently catalogued and digitised TG4 News and Current Affairs Archive 1996-2004 at an event in the offices of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) in Dublin.

This project makes available some 1500 hours of TG4 news and current affairs output ,produced by Nuacht RTÉ for TG4 andbroadcast during the 1996-2004 period, the first years of the channel’s existence. It received funding support from the BAI’s Archiving Funding Scheme and the approval of RTÉ. The cataloguing portion of the work, carried out May 2016-July 2017 was outsourced by TG4, following public tender won by Europus, a Gaeltacht-based independent company.

In parallel with the cataloguing, TG4’s own in-house staff with thanks to RTÉ Archives ,prepared, cleaned and then digitised the Archive contents, designed the cataloguing systems and also the website through which the content is now accessible to the public for research and educational purposes. Photographs taken on Saturday Febuary 4th as Police escorted members of the English Defence League (EDL) as they marched holding banners aloft during a demonstration through the streets of Leicester city center. Estimates say Up to two thousand members of the EDL gathered in the centre of Leicester, personally I think it was around a thousand as an opposing demonstration by anti-fascists UAF (Unite Against fascismheld) was held nearby.

Before moving to London or more specifically hackney i knew nothing about the area or the current affairs here. so once I moved here i was very surprised to find my self living in such a vibrant place with lots of vibrant cultures. one of the best things about living here has been weekly walks/cycle rides to hackney wick to take photos and spy on the how the Olympics was shaping up. its great to see it all finished but strange seeig this mark an end to a part of my life that ill always remember. These photographs where taken during the opening ceremony as we where waiting for the fireworks to begin.

Cullybackey College 6th form pupils have recently started a debating society. Meeting every Tuesday, pupils will discuss current affair topics and issues relevant to our society. This opportunity allows pupils to become more involved with matters that impact our daily lives.

I saw this work being done, and thought it looked a little "Heath Robinson". It definitely had a DIY look to it - not the outcome at least, but the way it was being done.

A week or so before this happened, I saw the "builders" having a bit of a "heated debate" with the scaffolders.

Anyway I walked past there last night and thought it looked rather nice - a plasma TV up on the wall and ground floor "hollowed out" as it were. And this evening? Well, here's the story on BBC News...
