Talk about minimalism! After noticing multiple coffee rings on sketch paper at my desk, it was time to take action. I scanned the stained paper, traced the images in illustrator and laser cut wood. I then plied two identical pieces together to make a nice, sturdy coaster. The burnt edges had to be captured, so I put a few coats of polyurethane on them for a nice finish.
It's been said that soccer will never catch on in the United States, but try telling that to the folks at a house in North Caldwell, New Jersey, who decorated their front lawn for FIFA's World Cup tournament as if it were Christmas! :-D
The flags of many of the participants - I can spot Uruguay, Germany, South Africa, Mexico, Spain and Paraguay, and of course the United States - flutter in the breeze around a strategically placed and colorfully painted soccer ball.
Sorry there's no Canadian flag, as I've posted this picture on Canada Day, but the truth is, America's neighbors north of the border are even less adept at soccer than Americans have been. In fact, Canadians are as good at soccer as we Americans are at establishing public medical insurance. Canada has only been in the World Cup once - in 1986.

Sorry I didn't find a wittier title but I haven't had my first cup of tea yet. This cup was made by Ingrid Westen, a porcelain designer who exhibited with me last weekend. If you'd like to see more of her work go here.
When I took the photo I really hadn't realized the nice bokeh I was getting at the time. You can imagine how surprised I was when I saw it on the computer. So Happy Bokeh Wednesday to you.

I managed to grab a few shots from the annual Peirson Cup played at Kildale's wonderful ground.
This was Kildale v Danby's semi-final, where Kildale beat Danby (who have won this trophy for the last 2 years) in a excellent high scoring contest.
I was playing for East Harlsey and we beat Glaisdale in a tight semi-final contest. However in the final, Kildale absolutely walloped us. Never mind it was an enjoyable day.
This was my Grandma's Tea Cup, she was a expert Tea drinker.
Now it's mine, and I'm practicing becoming a expert myself!
