Constructed in 1955, the Palace of Culture and Science (Polish: Pałac Kultury i Nauki; abbreviated PKiN) is a notable high-rise building in Warsaw, Poland. It is the center for various companies, public institutions and cultural activities such as concerts, cinemas, theaters, libraries, sports clubs, universities, scientific institutions and authorities of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Motivated by Polish historicism and American art deco high-rise buildings, the PKiN was designed by Soviet architect Lev Rudnev in "Seven Sisters" style and is informally referred to as the Eighth Sister.

The Palace of Culture and Science is the tallest building in Poland, the eighth tallest building in the European Union and one of the tallest on the European continent. It is 237 metres (778 ft)[1] tall, including the structural 43-metre high spire.

Wherever we were in China: Asians were staring at us and taking a lot of pictures of those mysterious foreigners. We were an attraction because there weren't many western tourists.

This was in the historic city centre of Shanghai.

When I can get someone to translate I will ge tthe elementary school's name. The schools in the mountain areas are closing or have closed due to dwindling populations. It's quite sad for the local communities.

The closed schools project is working on the revitalization of ten closed schools through art.

This one is part of the Culture Bound Syndrome.

A statue of a child looking around, firmly hooded in a parka. The image of someone shutting him/herself away from the world may be that of a person in modern society who is not good at communication, but it can also be endearing. Look for them in the corners of classroom and corridors.

The first part of that sign says, "dame (dah-meh!)" no good. I'm not sure what the rest says. We missed out on seeing some of these figures. Our time was limited. They were a little too cute for me, but they were very popular. I am sure that I read 'ijime' somewhere too. Bullying. It is a huge problem in Japan.

“Many Cultures, One Focus – Achieving Great Success” was evident at Elmora School 12’s annual Multicultural Celebration. Parents were impressed with the variety of performances, including dances, songs, and poems that are popular around the world. The highlight of the event was the explosive fashion show. Over 80 students modeled traditional clothing from their native countries while the song “Coming to America” was played.

The production was flawless and the lesson was profound. We all learned that even though we may all come from different places, we share a bond and realize we truly are multicultural.

Mr. Argul, Supervisor of Music, showed his support with his standing ovation. “I was most impressed with your terrific hosts who were so very confident and professional and also the performance of ‘Frere Jacques’ which left me in tears of happiness!”
