Io mi ricordo un cielo di lacca cinese e le stelle lucenti che da lassù mi guardavano, fredde. Il tempo sospeso, il freddo diventava non so come caldo. Io, piccola piccola, con una cuffia di lana azzurra, i capelli quasi bagnati dall’umor della sera, e i pantaloni colla staffa sotto al piede e addosso gli scarponi neri coi lacci rossi che si slacciavano sempre. Nel silenzio delle Prealpi, fatte sagome appena dal manto notturno, la neve gelata mandava bagliori d’azzurro e il mio fiato, nel freddo, ricamava nuvoline bianche che guizzavano appena per poi sparire inghiottite dal buio. Erano i capodanni miei giovinetti, i miei capodanni friulani, a Piancavallo. Mi ricordo, si mi ricordo l’incanto notturno dell’attesa che tintinnava nell’anima mia. Io pure, come tutti, pensavo che quella notte, tanto speciale, fosse diversa da tutte le altre notti, una notte gentile, magica che a modo suo moriva e rinasceva portando il suo frutto perenne che germinava, silente, in ogni cuore.

Il sonno, certo, mi visitava, mentre il cicaleccio intorno diventava una ninna nanna, gli occhi palpitavano in un apri e chiudi che non comandavo. Lo combattevo, il sonno, e così facendo, anno via anno, entravo nel mondo, che ha le sue strane liturgie e passavo, in volo discreto, dal fiore dell’infanzia al giglio della giovinezza. Il mistero mi avvolgeva tutta quanta e sentivo la magia delle ore danzanti che, in piroetta, portavano alla Mezzanotte. Gli occhi quasi chiusi, il sapore del pandoro, qualcuno, forse mio padre, mi bagnava la punta del naso con le bollicine. Qualcun altro mi portava in braccio a dormire. Poi più nulla, solo il tepore delle coltri del letto che profumavano di pulito. Era arrivato il nuovo anno fanciullo e io, nel sonno, rinata con lui.

Al mattino, poi, nel silenzio del dopo festa, trattenendo il respiro, vedevo l’anno vecchio, con la sua barba bianca, gli occhi stanchi e il bastone in mano che se ne andava via e lasciava il posto a un piccino in tutina azzurra che si sarebbe inghirlandato i riccioli di brina per poi diventar fanciullo con i primi zefiri della primavera, farsi uomo alla mietitura, curvarsi appena al tempo delle castagne e incanutirsi nell’inverno che già lo inghiottiva, in un tempo senza tempo che, generoso, lo rimandava bambino a noi sulla terra.

Molti e molti anni sono passati da allora e ho avuto tanti capodanni diversi. Alcuni mondani, altri composti nell’intimità ritrovata. Una volta ne ebbi persino uno al caldo delle Canarie. Ogni acino d’uva un rintocco fino a giungere alla Mezzanotte. Il nuovo anno, quella volta, mi sembrò già nato grande, nell’eterna primavera che si culla sotto al picco del Teide. Capodanni flamenchi, capodanni padovani, altri milanesi. Certo non sono più i capodanni ricamati di poesia, nel gelo di Piancavallo, scaldati dalla cuffia celeste, illuminati dal lume del piccolo mondo infantile, ma tutti quanti, ancora adesso, mi recano (e a tutti lo fanno) un frutto d’oro che riscalda il cuore: la speranza. Buon anno!

No two snowflakes are ever the same.

It was snowing so I put the reverse macro ring on the camera and attached the Canon FD 28mm 3.5 SC lens that is stuck wide open at 3.5 on the Canon 5D Mark II and took some hand held images of snowflakes landing on the cuff of my jacket.
