Pasquale, moments after he's slammed shut Chamber's to prevent John from Boatman's Manchester Masterclass 'overseeing' the discovery that azym is a kind of unleavened bread. Cameraship by Ms.Geek.
Sphindus sp., I believe. Found at Bastrop State Park in central Texas, ESE of Austin. Bastrop County, Texas, USA.
There are a lot of downed trees at this State Park and I saw a lot of slime molds on my recent visit. Many of the slime mold fruiting bodies were being grazed upon by these beetles.

These are always wonderful bugs to find....a flat headed Stenocotini nymph (or if that is wrong my next guess is Ledrinae) on a Eucalypt. They are very small and it's just a sheer fluke if you notice them on the bark, The photo below shows the scene to illustrate how well they camouflage.

I have a bunch more of pictures of the five 6' x 3' panels that comprised this display, if you're interested.

Celebrating biodiversity. Marine researchers have discovered hundreds of new ocean creatures on Australia's coral reefs - Lizard and Heron islands on the Great Barrier Reed, and Ningaloo Reef off Western Australia.
These species haven't been seen before because they're quite cryptic beasts.
"We were all surprised and excited to find such a large variety of marine life never before described, most notably soft coral, isopods, tanaid crustaceans and worms, and in waters that divers access easily and regularly," said Julian Caley, principal research scientist at the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS).
Some good news for those who care about our biosphere and more good reasons to protect it in the face of the global climate change threatening coral reef biodiversity & species survival.
A bird which is very similar both to the Lewin's and the Yellow-spotted Honeyeaters but a smaller bird, more curve in the bill and a rounder ear patch. Was known as Graceful Honeyeater which is now a separate species.

“Cryptic Fae Gankery”
This knot was more difficult to draw than others. Went with planets/days/etc symbols instead of Runes. Thinking of redrawing it more precisely, maybe with a faerie included!

Although cryptically disguised as a dead leaf when at rest, the Peacock Katydid (Pterochroza ocellata) packs a big surprise for its secondary defense. When disturbed, it raises its wings to expose strikingly colored eyespots, which can be enough to startle a potential predator away. This large katydid exhibits a great deal of intraspecific variation such that the wing patterns and camouflage of no two individuals are ever the same, and entomologists at one time had described over a dozen species that are now attributed to P. ocellata. These variations in coloration help to prevent any predator from learning a search pattern to recognize this species and its defense. Yasuní National Park, Ecuador.
