While geocaching with the guys, it became clear that a river was the only thing separating us from our goal
Peninsular V.R.S.A ferry
on the Rio Guadiana crossing.
From Vila Real de Santo António, Portugal to Ayamonte, Spain.
And then we were off, headed east along the Upper Peninsula toward the highway crossing at my genetic ancestral homeland at the Straits of Mackinac. There are two primary east-west routes across the Upper Peninsula, US Highway 2 on the peninsula's south side and Michigan State Highway 28 through the middle. Both roads involve a lot of straight lines despite all the swamps they pass through and are lightly traveled, so it's easy to pass slow pokes or be passed by speed demons. We took the middle route to the town of Seney, then cut down to the southern route along one of the dozen or so north-south cut-throughs.
Here, I'm standing at the intersection of one of the cut-throughs, looking north across the old railroad tracks toward the middle route. Those tracks are part of the line originally built in the 1850s by the Duluth, South Shore & Atlantic Railroad. We didn't take this cut-through, as it wasn't paved. I just wanted to stop and see if I could get a good picture of the swamp. I got this instead.
Tongariro Nationalpark - Tongariro Crossing
one of the most beautiful one-day-walks in the world
Taken in High Wycombe. I was just playing with the sky and the crossing when the young women came across it, one dark-haired one fair, clinching the scene.
We watched while the boat taxied across the Nile and brought a full ship load of people close to where we were standing. It very quickly filled with another standing-room-only group of people who wanted to cross to the other side and just as quick as it had come, the boat hurriedly sailed back to the opposite side.
(Part of a series from my first trip to Egypt.)
Have been thinking since this opened that I should take some fotos whilst crossing. It was a nice day and we were only going out for lunch, so wife drove and I took these!!!

Sense of humor or axe to grind about a man crossing the street?
If he were putting on a shirt, would he be "cross-dressing"?
Linda crossing Mill Creek on the Sandwich Boardwalk. It was Easter Sunday but still cold -- about 40 (4 c) -- and there were gusty winds and breezes.
Passed this hundreds of times before noticing it wasn't just a fence. On the very disused Warrington and Altrincham Junction Railway (I think) where it crosses the A6144 in Carrington.
Pair of Mallard ducks cross the flooded Highway 101 (old US 169). The Highway 101 Minnesota River crossing is under water again in June 2014.
