The event was held at the Tom Harbin Ag Center in Luverne. The Alabama Forestry Commission, Alabama Farmers Federation, Sun South, Haynes Medical, Alabama Extension Cooperative, and Cities of Brantley and Luverne were on hand to teach students about various facets of safety precautions on the farm or at home. Troy firefighter, Curtiss Shaver, shared his personal story of losing part of his leg at age 18 in a farm-related accident. He said the way local firefighters and paramedics came to his aid following the accident motivated him to join their ranks.
