Crenshaw Boulevard will be totally closed for about 38 days at its intersection with Rodeo Road for the "restoration" of the street over the nearly-completed Metro's Crenshaw Line Crenshaw/Expo station.

While I appreciate the open space, it would be great if all these words actually told me something other than who the various agencies, government entities, and donors that made this plaque possible. Maybe tell me something about the Nike Missile base that was here until the 1970s, or what can be seen from this awesome vantage point, or the history of Palos Verdes, or anything about the massive Portuguese Bend Slide Zone that makes housing development impossible. But no, just credits. There seems to be a concerted effort by Rancho Palos Verdes to downplay the landslide aspect of this area, less it affect property values.

First Starbucks passed on Crenshaw.

After crossing under I-105 the Crenshaw Corridor will descend into a trench along the airport perimeter. The concrete structure at right is the beginning of the transition from the bridge to the trench.

This Rolling Hills Estates outdoor mall, 'Promenade on The Peninsula' has lots of major chain stores, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, (bankrupt) Borders Books, Abercrombie & Fitch, Williams-Sonoma, Talbots, Gap, an ice rink, and a 13 theater multiplex, but missing one major ingredient: people.

The Expo Line, Crenshaw Station is expected to open later this year. The station platforms are located on opposite sides of the street.

The Crenshaw County Young Farmers Committee was recognized Sunday, Dec. 6 for its outstanding excellence in Division 1 (counties with under 5,000 members) at the Alabama Farmers Federation Annual Meeting in Montgomery.
