Kimberlé Crenshaw, Professor of Law at Columbia and UCLA, delivered the keynote address celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Women's & Gender Studies Program at Lafayette in Colton Chapel. Professor Crenshaw is a founder of intersectionality theory and a specialist in Critical Race Studies and Critical Legal Studies.

Constructed by Dr John Coleman between 1817-21. The frame two story, wood structure has a gable roof over the four major rooms and a shed roof on the back. It is a rare frame Federal style structure. It was occupied until 1909 by a Coleman descendent. It was sold to a freed slave Gardner Crenshaw and his wife Ruby in 1909 and is still held in a trust for the Crenshaw Family. It is listed on the Alabama Register of Historic Places.

Shoppers peruse the brand new frozen foods section at the Walmart in the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza. The Walmart unveiled its renovation on September 25, 2012.
