We designed this letterpress card as a New Year's greeting a few years ago. It was printed by Full Circle Press in Nevada City, CA. The phrase is so true for me that I even have it on the back of my business card.

There was a time in my life when I was about 30 something years old that life seemed bleak. I felt unfullfilled. I felt lost and alone despite having a beautiful family who surrounded me with love. Perception and feelings do not belong to reality necessarily. I found in creativity my medication. Creativity allowed me get closer to myself from a more productive perspective. Creativity invited me to get closer to the self without feeling the discomfort of silence. The time of loneliness got slowly replaced by understanding solitude.

Nurture Your Creativity Bootcamp Assignment 1 - Define what creativity means to you. My definition of creativity: filling in the blanks. A writer begins with a blank page, an artist a blank canvass. What happens to in the time between the blank page and completion? There are blank spaces along the way that make room for insights and connections to be made - and that's creativity at play. (This image inspired by the Flickr Group Roulette pick today: Doodle Me.)

This is what met me as I walked through the gates to my youngest son's daycare center today. I love that place, they take the BEST care of our children! The whole place is always buzzing with creativity, you can actually feel it in the air as you walk by... They build and draw and paint and glue and play and dream all day long. I imagine this is what paradise must be like.

But tomorrow is his last day there. Ever. He is going to be a big kid and start school this autumn. I'm packing a huge load of kleenex in my purse for tomorrow afternoon!
