Canal and Lafayette. Initially, took this shot because of Shakespeare. But ... found the photo humor and irony behind my attraction to it after. Do you know why? This photo is part of a photo series that tells the visual story of my trip to Zuccotti Park on this day. Each photo in the series contributes meaning and significance to the story. The idea behind this logo was to highlight a star as the symbolic representation of the spirit of the games.
This mark promoted the 2000 Winter USA Jr. Olympic Hockey Festival.

This particular part of the evening was a bit challenging to say the least. The lighting was much dimmer (I wasn't using a flash; couldn't), and Anja did a lot of aerial performance which was very difficult to catch well with the portrait lens. Since then, I mastered it with fast movement. On this evening, however, I was still a fledgling! © Maria Dorothea Campbell 2009
Still not quite ready to part company, but almost. To keep on getting, he knows he's got to give a bit too! This little creature is so smart. He has his eye on the future. © Maria Dorothea Campbell 2014
Isn't he just too adorable? I checked to see what the sudden appearance of rabbits in one's life signified. The appearance of these two most definitely was quite a surprise, even though I knew that we have quite a few around the place, and wild hares as well. But why these two, and around the house and barn, no less? And why after all these years? So this is what I found on Spirit Walk Ministry: "Receiving hidden teachings and intuitive messages. Active around dawn and dusk (the time of the fairies and fauns), they are guides into the mystical shadow world and it is said that if you follow after it the rabbit will lead you to the fairy realm. Rabbit is known for its ability to procreate and fearful thoughts will procreate (manifest) into what you fear. Movement by leaps, living by ones own wits, not getting boxed into a corner. Take advantage of opportunities that may present themselves only for a brief moment. Examine the foods you eat and perhaps eat more of a vegetarian diet. The Rabbit is a spirit animal that is extremely open to one on one communication and when approached as an equal it will show great wisdom and guidance." I sure did get my share of wonderful one-on-one on this day.

Our landscape artist planted a whole bunch of new flowers the other day, many of which I don't know. That won't remain for too long (I hope!), so stay tuned! © Maria Dorothea Campbell 2014

5.13.14: This is not a hyacinth calyx. It's Allium aflatunense. I thought at first it was hyacinth, because it was among hyacinth, and the buds within the calyx looked like hyacinth buds. However, this morning, I went down to take some photos in the same spot, and saw that this calyz had burst open, and flowered. I realized then that it was Allium aflatunense. © Maria Dorothea Campbell 2014

This isn't a wild tulip. I've dubbed it a "wild red" colored tulip. Came across it by chance on my way to the tulip bed in our garden. © Maria Dorothea Campbell 2014

Lewis Black Viral Video. Jason Siegel worked with Bill Replogle and Lewis Black on an integrated campaign. The scraps from the chopping room floor were pieced together to form this hilarious short film. Enjoy! And make sure no children are around when you watch this.
I took a photo of this building when I went down to visit Zuccotti Park the first time. It was on 9.25.11. The photo of the building made it look extremely attractive, but there is an ugly story behind its development. This would never occur to you if all you had seen of it was my prior capture. However, this image offers another perspective on the issue. Study the building's placement. It's situated in the oldest part of Manhattan, surrounded by historical landmark buildings. The neighborhood residents fought for years to prevent the erection of this building in the middle of this landmark area, but lost in the end. Not only does it destroy the look and feel of this landmarked and one of the oldest and most beautiful areas in Manhattan, but it is much taller than ALL other buildings around it. Does this make sense to you? This photo is part of a photo series that tells the visual story of my trip to Zuccotti Park on this day. Each photo in the series contributes meaning and significance to the story.
