PROJECT: The challenge was to design a graphic standards framework that would unify all of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra’s (CSO) marketing materials. This broad spectrum of pieces included posters, brochures, and mailers.

If you've been following "The Cult of The Garden Squirrel" as I've come to dub it, you know that he was bound to show up at one point today. And he did. Now he wanted to be in on the action, but this time he had a one-track mind. Payback! Payback with nuts. I had no nuts on me as I was shooting, but how could I refuse this little mug? Especially because he was not so "into me" today. Boy did that hurt lol. That handful of peanuts the week before just didn't cut it. I definitely owed him much more. So I went upstairs and got the bag of roasted almonds I had bought just for him (and his pals). That made him very happy, and very busy. But getting back to this moment; you can tell he was pleading for more. The next shots are even better. He is something else. © Maria Dorothea Campbell 2014

There's a little story behind this photo. See how that girl is waving in my direction? She didn't seem to want any journalists or anyone else with a camera to come near her and the rest of her group. I found that very strange, considering that everyone was so camera-happy there. I tuned her out, took pictures, and moved on. Later, while I was walking around taking photos, a young man came up to me and asked if anyone had tried to "prevent" me from taking pictures. if so, I should tell him and he would take care of it. I told him I hadn't encountered any problems, and that if anyone had been trying to stop me, I hadn't noticed. He was glad to hear it. It ended up that he was a member of MoveOn.org. They were watching over the protests, because they had heard that there was some corruption and dissent in the ranks taking place among some of the OWS protesters. Some also had had issue with the media, and didn't want them around. But that didn't last very long. Zuccotti Park. 1 Liberty Plaza. Liberty Square. OWS. Inspired by it’s beauty and diversity, this exhibit followed the path of a family that was exploring Australia for the first time. A journal that recorded their findings would serve as wayfinding signage, leading the visitor through various interactive exhibits and tanks.
This exhibit would have featured fish, plants, and animals, all native to Australia.

This was actually a hula hoop act between band shows. This act involved movement galore, so I was immediately on top of it. This was when I was really starting to get into (selectively) using my Portrait lens for event photography. Why? I got the coolest effects out of it, and it's great in low light (f 1.2). It took a while though, to master using it in that environment. Not an easy feat, but was worth the struggle. © Maria Dorothea Campbell 2009
