Description de l’œuvre :
L’œuvre est composée de trois pièces en forme d’arc qui, tels des portails, invitent le promeneur à y circuler. Chaque pièce comprend, à sa base, des encadrements de portes surdimensionnés au sommet desquels se déploie un assemblage d’objets domestiques, tous collectionnés par l’artiste dans l’arrondissement, puis reproduits en bronze. Les silhouettes composites des trois sculptures réfèrent au patrimoine architectural environnant et évoquent la diversité de la communauté du quartier.
Biographie :
Catherine Bolduc Diplômée en histoire de l’art et en arts visuels, Catherine Bolduc expose depuis 1997 des œuvres fantasmagoriques composées de sculptures, d’installations et de dessins. Exploratrice de nouveaux territoires, imaginaires et réels, elle puise tant dans la littérature que dans ses longs séjours en Allemagne, au Japon, en Chine, en Irlande et en Turquie. Au Québec, son travail a été présenté au Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, à la Galerie de l’UQAM et à la Maison des arts de Laval. À l’étranger, on a pu voir ses pièces à la galerie Toni Tapiès (Barcelone), à GASP (Boston) et au Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Berlin).

The Northern Ireland election results were ugly in themselves. But between Sinn Féin abstention and DUP "friends and allies" 17 (10 DUP and 7 SF) of our 18 MPs have somehow been able to give the UK a Tory government. We are the weird little green and orange tail waging the UK bulldog.
I wonder how long it will all last. ...possibly a whole term.

Place des festivals, Montréal
Des milliers de tiges souples coiffées de réflecteurs blancs composent cette grande métaphore urbaine d’un champ de blé québécois. Les concepteurs se sont inspirés de la forme et du positionnement du « rang », ce mode de division des terres rurales instauré par le régime français en Nouvelle-France et qui a perduré jusqu'à ce jour. Sous l’effet du vent hivernal et de la réflexion de la lumière des projecteurs de la place des Festivals, ces épis stylisés oscillent en créant des effets de scintillement qui reproduisent les ondulations blondissantes du blé dans la campagne. Ce clin d’œil aux origines du Québec établit un dialogue original entre l’histoire agricole de la province et sa réalité urbaine actuelle. Par un jeu de symboles, il crée aussi un lien entre les saisons, installant l’été céréalier au cœur de l’hiver. Le visiteur se promène ainsi dans un espace intemporel, entre deux âges et deux saisons. Des sources musicales dispersées dans l’espace et synchronisées donnent le sentiment de mélodies qui se déplacent, comme le bruit du vent dans les blés. Par ailleurs, l’implantation des tiges métaphoriques de l’installation ouvre des sentiers qui invitent le public à une promenade bucolique multisensorielle au cœur de Montréal.
Fondée en 2003, Kanva est une firme d’architecture multidisciplinaire qui combine conception architecturale, projets immobiliers et installations artistiques. Pour elle, chaque projet est l’occasion de raconter une histoire, d’améliorer l’environnement bâti et d’élargir la pratique de l’architecture et de l’art. Kanva est lauréate de plusieurs prix et a réalisé plusieurs expositions (Institut Royal d’Architecture du Canada, Grands Prix du design, Jardins de Métis, Centre Canadien d’Architecture, Maison de l’architecture du Québec, Société des arts technologiques…).

This was taken this weekend at home when I was too lazy to venture out for a photoshoot. We (We here includes my wife) had taken out our camera to capture a spider in its web but it proved too complex with the lights being a bit too harsh and the spider being too small.... After repeated tries, we decided to go to the 2nd floor open terrace to see if there is anything interesting there. The sun had just started going down and the decision to capture some urban sunset shots was very natural.
The building here is an apartment complex opposite to our house and the lines were playing tricks with my eye on whether there was any tilt with the photo. I checked with the lines feature of photoshop to make sure there is no tilt but the optical illusion is still there........
