DICHROIC SPHERE

ABOUT THE LIGHT WORK
Dichroic Sphere @ BLOX is a geodetic construction of wood with applied dichroic foil, that with the help of a single light bulb lights up the area around.
The special dichroic foil bends the light in colors depending on what angle and what time of the day it’s viewed. When combined with the geodetic wood construction the color pattern will be consistent no matter what angle it’s viewed from, which gives Dichroic Sphere @ BLOX a preternatural visual appearance.
Dichroic Sphere @ BLOX can be seen from a great distance where it lightens up the surroundings and casts a net of shadows from all around the piece of art.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jakob Kvist (1985), Lighting Designer
Jakob Kvist is an internationally renowned and awarded lighting designer, doing temporary and permanent multidisciplinary works in the field between art, design, architecture and performance. Jakob has previously been featured at Roskilde Festival, Trailerpark festival, Frost Festival, Copenhagen Light Festival, Strøm, Festival, Nikolaj Kunsthal, Roskilde Kommune, Helsingør Kommune, Helsingør Kommune, Københavns Kommune, Kulturby Aarhus and the Royal Danish Theatre. He’s been multidisciplinary projects with artist such as MØ, Phlake, Cph Phil, Den Sorte Skole, Bisse, When Saints Go Machine, WhoMadeWho and Mike Sheridan. Jakob was recently nominated for the Danish Lighting Award 2019 for the permanent exhibition Smartphonemania, was featured on the cover of renowned Roof Magazine in 2018, has been featured the in the book “Superlux, Smart Light Art, Design and Architecture for Cities”, and received “event of the year” 2014 from Politiken, for the multidisciplinary work Panorama at Tietgenkollegiet.

From my archives..... This is from the Wayanad trip that I went in October last year. Had edited it in November and had totally forgotten about it. Found it during a search for some images in my hard disk. The cold & rainy feel of the shot & the windy nature of the click made me post this today....(It is slightly chill & looks like it might rain anytime here in Chennai!!!)

Greetings, collectors! I am post-party and pre-airport, so I'm going to keep this last dispatch from the West Coast pithy. That's fine though, since today's edition from super-genius designer Matt Jones speaks for itself. (He really is a super genius! Ask anyone who knows him.)
Matt's edition, Get Excited and Make Things is certainly not the only response to the iconic Keep Calm and Carry On poster, but in my opinion it is the very best one. It's a sentiment I agree with wholeheartedly, and a perspective that I exhort you all to adopt as your mantra of our new era.
It's easier than ever to submerge oneself in gloom, doom and hand-wringing, but resourcefulness, innovation and opportunity abound. I've never seen much point in wallowing in the suckitude, I mean rrrreally: enough already! What are you going to DO about it? Because you can do something, and more importantly: you should.
Matt's print pithily embodies the attitude I aspire to live by and look for in others. I look forward to living with his bold reminder, and hope you will too. Should you need further encouragement to possess such inspiration, consider this: the profits from this edition will benefit Creative Commons, an organization most worthy of your support.

Sculptures au parc D’Arts et rêves, Sutton
"Daniel Haché a eu l’idée d’organiser ce symposium d’art monumental après avoir participé à un événement semblable tenu à Saint-Jean-Port-Joli. Il se rend compte qu’on y utilisait du pin blanc qui provenait de sa propre région de Brome-Missisquoi. Il décide alors d’organiser un symposium à Sutton, pour en faire un lieu d’échanges entre artistes. Pour la première édition, et pour rendre hommage à Robert Roussil, les organisateurs ont lancé un concours international aux sculpteurs d’art monumental. Ceux-ci devaient soumettre un projet d’hommage à Robert Roussil. Les gagnants de cette année sont deux Portugais, Luis Murcho et Hugo Maciel, qui ont proposé une oeuvre de pin blanc, qui proviendra de la région, ornée d’un portrait de métal représentant Robert Roussil. Cette sculpture en direct sera effectuée au pied des pentes de ski du mont Sutton, avant d’être transportée devant la galerie Arts Sutton.
Les visiteurs pourront aussi visionner le film Roussil ou le curieux destin d’un anarchiste impénitent, de Werner Volkmer, qui retrace l’itinéraire du sculpteur libertaire. L’équipe de Monumentum voulait aussi célébrer le 50e anniversaire du premier symposium en Amérique du Nord, organisé par Robert Roussil lui-même au sommet du mont Royal, à Montréal. À cette époque, Roussil développe le concept de « sculpture habitable ». À Sutton, on veut recréer cet esprit d’échange et on souhaite tenir cet événement chaque année, en regroupant de six à huit créateurs d’art monumental.
La sculpture fabriquée par Luis Murcho et Hugo Maciel, qui fera huit pieds (2,50 m) de haut, sera offerte à la ville de Sutton. Mais les organisateurs de Monumentum voient plus loin. Ils souhaiteraient que le symposium puisse fournir des oeuvres monumentales publiques qui pourraient être exposées ailleurs au Québec."

LOS ANGELES - City and County of Los Angeles leaders gathered on March 3, 2022 to announce the expansion of a pilot program offering specialized mobile assistance and transportation for those experiencing serious psychological crisis in the City of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Ralph Terrazas joined Mayor Eric Garcetti, City Councilmember Monica Rodriguez, County Supervisor Hilda Solis and Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH) Deputy Director Miriam Brown at LAFD Fire Station 4 in downtown Los Angeles to highlight the program, conceived in 2019, which will soon have specially trained DMH teams available on an around-the-clock basis, deployed from five strategically located LAFD stations.
