look at the big doll. that is some creepy shit.

With this photo I was trying to show the idea of emptiness. I heavily edited this image, making it black and white, and removing the subject's head and add to the empty feeling of the photo. I took this right after sunset, on a cloudy day to add to the moodiness of the scene. I think the rolling hills in the background shows how big and vast the world can feel and I think that adds contrast to the meaning of the photo.

This is an illustration rather than a documentary photograph because it is very heavily edited and it represents an emotion and concept versus an actual documentary story. Using the image would have to be thought about very carefully because of how edited and manipulated it is. I think this would go good with a story about depression, or how many people feel daily because it uses leading lines to capture the attention of the viewers.

Creative Shaped Teapots

If you live in United Kingdom then you might know how it is boring to drink a tea every day from very same cups and teapots. Drinking a tea from a piano-shaped kettle or that clock kettle is really a different experience. Here you can see the images of incredibly unusual and creative teapots which eventually could make

Your morning more entertaining.

The National WWII Museum 2016 American Spirit Awards held on June 10, 2016

The concept I chose was peace. I decided using a symbol of peace, the dove, would be a good subject for the image. What I settled on was hands (those are my hands in the image) releasing a dove.

The dove I handmade out of a foam board. I googled a simple image of a dove, and using it as a guide, I drew the dove in pencil on the board. I didn't follow the image exactly: I simplified the olive branch and I didn't draw the second wing. Then I cut it out with an x-acto knife. I attached a thin piece of white styrofoam to the back of a chair and placed a white light behind it. This diffused the light and gave me a clearer silhouette. To increase the contrast between the subject and the background, I painted the bird black. I used the timer on my camera to give me time to put my hands in the right place. It took some trial and error before I found a position I liked and that hid the fact that I was holding the bird with my fingers. I don't feel there were many ethical considerations to take in since I didn't edit the image and the bird was fake.

The concept of peace works well as an illustration because there are different interpretations and ways to show it. The generic dove isn't the only peaceful subject. To some, peace may be strolling through nature or reading a book by a fireplace.

Oscar winning director Michel Gondry takes a few moments to chat with Creative Minds In Cannes Participant Brad Tucker about his upcoming projects

The picture is creative because it isn't the main subject. It is what the camera's focused on but it isn't the subject of the photo.

Day 97 of 365 - Creatively Uncreative

I didn't have a clue as to what to do for today's photo. So, I decided to do a little light painting. I sat down in my room with a little flashlight real fast, and took a few photos. Albeit I didn't really like the light nearly as much in this one as a couple others, my face was a lot better focused - meaning, I didn't move my head nearly as much.

Sometimes the creative side of my brain works on overload and everything else that is not so creative, but that I should be paying attention to through out my day becomes really hard to focus on.

Here's the body of my creative player while taken apart. Just cool for geek value.

My art is infused all over the house. i have a little spot in my room where i make jewelry. I have a small studio across from my bedroom where i do painting, mixed media and mosaics. i also have a section downstairs where i do my sewing and always host workshops. so you see, my creative environment is all around me.

Cooking & gourmet experiences, the Reykjavik Airwaves Music Festival, a visit to the nation's Elf School, printing my own postcards ... the nature & creativity of Iceland and its people is simply mind-blowing. I look forward to sharing more stories on my travel blog soon: www.creativelena.com!
