The lady reflected was rushing along the street in St Ives just as I was taking this reflections shot, now if that was woody in the the window he would have rushed to her aid in a heartbeat i'm sure :))
What do you do when you find yourself in a thunderous hailstorm two hours from camp?
Take deep mountain breath and realize you are living the best moment of you life.
Cowboy Thom = = Sitting strong and proud alone / isolated in a downpour in the middle of the forest this cowboy is in harmony with nature.
Wherein most of us would feel panicked he remains calm in the face of thunder and the prospects of the unknown deep woods. .

A horse ride like this in the early morning with the sum warming the meadows and surrounded by the forest is like being in heaven. So quiet and peaceful - it had to have a painterly effect.

Found this man at the Iowa State Fair overseeing the old Horse Pavilion. Calmly watching the judging from the distance as if he was still leading the reins.

This is a pretty classic look at the rodeo saddle bronc event, even has the judge in the background. The object is of course for the rider to ride to the 8-second timer, and both the rider and horse make up the two-part score.
For those concerned about the animals, especially the roughstock animals (horses and bulls), they are as much a part of the sport as the cowboys and are considered animal athletes. As noted, the score is two-part: for the cowboy and for the animal. Statistics are kept and the top roughstock will go to the National Finals. It’s a big deal for the stock contractors if their animal contributes to the All-round cowboy winner. The top rated horse may even win a gold buckle for the contractor. So the animal athletes do win “prizes” and are recognized for their performances and remarkable skills.
We did not attend, so I have no idea how a cowboy church service differs from other church services.
An hour into our mountain ride ride, at 10,000 feet my daughter, me, and cowboy Thom were overtaken by a storm. Heavy rain turned to sleet turned to snow.. My horse bucked with each thunderclap which seemed to be directly overhead. Thom did not hesitate nor faulted. In true cowboy spirit we continued upward.
As we ascended to an overlook we were gifted with a heavenly vista of the grand valley below.
On our return the stream we had crossed had turned into a river, no problem for Thom.
And at the sight of the stables our two horses suddenly broke into full gallop towards the sweet meadow grass... Hold tight !!
