Members of the Class of 2025 complete the First Year Orientation Program obstacle course at the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario, on September 17, 2021.
The obstacle course is an annual tradition at RMC to mark the entry of the first-year class in to Cadet Wing. It requires the newest officer cadets of the college to work as teams to overcome 12 challenges over a two-hour, 2.5-kilometre course across the historic peninsula on the shores of Lake Ontario. It is a course designed to test them physically and mentally, and prove their individual leadership qualities, and their cohesion as a team.

A HDR shot of an old barn on a golf couse near Avon, CO. I tweaked this just slightly using Photomatix to bring out just a bit more of the natural colors and light.
The Large and Original sizes are great looking. Perfect for computer desktops.
This spot on the abandoned golf course is only 200 yards from the green, or at least, what once was the green. The cart path tells us so.

A feast of the earth: seasonal Southern Ontario greens unfurled over ribbons of grilled zucchini and other raw root vegetables, a smoked and meaty tasting carrot and garlic scapes. Streaks of arugula puree and garlic emulsion, coffee granules, rye crackers, edible flowers and currants add complexity to this tribute to the region.
Reminds me so much of Manresa's Into the Vegetable Garden but a little more rustic and with some Scandinavian influences (reminding me of noma and Restaurant Relæ <-- also reminding me I need to catch up on posting long overdue international meals). Busy with an assortment of textures although I have to confess the smoked carrot was really pretty awesome (even if I'm supposed to stay away from carrots).

12/365 Jaymi
I had registered Jaymi for a rec. centre course a long time ago, and figured as long as I came with her, she could still do it. It was a Chocolate-Making course!
She absolutely loved it. They made tons of little chocolates, got to eat them of course, and even got to do a chocolate painting to eat at home!
*I have decided to start another 365 of Jaymi, beginning on the first day of her 'new life' with a healthier brain. She is so lucky to be alive, and this 365 will be a celebration of the wonderful little girl that is Jaymi.*
There is certain phases in life where you have to leave something behind and get ahead new challenges.

Lardo wrapped Sea Bass roll-ups served on sliced Costuloto salad tomatoes. The side salad is salted diced sweet bell pepper on fresh rocket leaves with a few blanched zucchini strips, dressed with good olive oil.
