In the spirit of TED Countdown — a movement to champion and accelerate solutions to the climate crisis — TEDxHouston Countdown shines a spotlight on local leaders and global innovators at the forefront of energy, sustainability, the built environment, and environmental justice.
TED’s global community is rallying to cut greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030 in the race to achieve a world that is safer, cleaner and fairer for everyone. In light of the growing support for this in the U.S.—and especially in our region, where catastrophic weather-related events like Hurricane Harvey and Winter Storm Uri seem to occur almost every year, now—it is important for the public to understand how innovation, policy, and community-driven problem solving can work in tandem to tackle this incredible challenge. This is why we’re excited to bring everyone together for TEDxHouston Countdown: We’ll weave thoughtful talks, inclusive discussion, cultural exhibits, and inspiring entertainment together to engage Houstonians in these issues and hopefully inspire them to embrace how ‘being the change’ can, and must, start at home.

This is a quilt that I made to sort of test myself. I found the quilt on flickr (www.flickr.com/photos/47255129@N04/5963479563/in/faves-81...) and wanted to see if I could make it without a pattern-- I did, but some of the center square' colorings are off (they should have all been green and red or black and green but I ended up with a couple red and white unintentionally), but I don't think you can tell unless you are me. It's a fun little pattern that tested me with all of those triangles and making sure everything lined up correctly. It measures about 55x55?? . I am happy I finished it right before we pulled out the Christmas decorations yesterday. This will hang over the couch for the holidays. I quilted this on the longarm using a holly and berries pantograph. This was made using Moda's Countdown to Christmas line.
