Prompts: elf treehouse, heavily decorated from Christmas
Style: The City
I do love this time of year with the lights and music and baking. I wish I had this little treehouse in which to celebrate.
Much appreciation for your visit and comments!
I'm referring to the final countdown of this year's autumn. We're down to the last. The photo was taken this past Sunday in Boston Common - it always seems to be the last place to change colors of the leaves. It was actually quite beautiful on Sunday.
Have a great Tuesday everyone!
Dear friends, I'm home from the hospital after my last five days of chemo. It went very well and I am halfway through my treatments. Once again...from the bottom of my heart, thank you for all your support! xo
The seagulls at the end of the jetty, the birds in the water (ducks?), and the tankers and freighters on the horizon look like they had gathered to watch the spectacular sunset, about 9 minutes away. There is absolutely no color saturation here. I lowered the shadows and contrast in post to make the highlights on the rocks in the foreground more visible. Long Beach, NY -- January 10, 2021
The last Fence Friday of Fall 2014! The Winter Solstice on Sunday, December 21st, signals the beginning of Winter in most of the Northern Hemisphere. But it also means longer days AND the countdown to Spring! (...it all depends on how you choose to look at things...)
Happy Fence Friday, my friends, have a wonderful weekend. :)
Christmas doesn't seem quite right to me this year because it's the first one without my dad and I find myself just feeling like it's very jarring when the rest of the world keeps going on and on as if nothing is wrong when there are so many things wrong....but, then again, there are also things that are right like time spent with friends, cats, my partner and my mother....time spent with nature and time spent away from the commercialism and capitalist hellscape of the season and focusing on what really matters.
I really enjoy the George Eastman House exhibit in Rochester, NY every year with Gingerbread every year as they can get very creative and nontraditional so I wanted to finally post a few of them. Here's the first one of three.

This turkey is showing off here but now that Thanksgiving is approaching he is are nowhere to be seen.
Just a mere 10 minutes to midnight, KCS conductor A.J. Pfeiffor walks past the Heavener yard job on his way towards the depot to gather paperwork. Kevin EuDaly, Nathan Bailey, Travis, Eugene and myself had spent the final hour of KCS next to the Heavener Depot hoping to grab one last train before midnight, when the CPKC merger would take effect.
We all knew the KCS paint would live on for many years to come, but that isn't why we were out that night. Getting to witness probably the last railroad mega-merger was something I had never thought I would see, and for past mergers there was no advanced warning on when they happened. It is definitely a sad moment to see KCS go, but I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds under the new railroad, CPKC.
