WEEK 49 – OB WM, Set I
Because you can never have too many black Walmart checklane light shots, here's yet another, of lanes 7, 6, 5, and 4. This picture was indeed taken from lane 8, but as it was on a different visit, it was just a coincidence that I was in line in the same one that was closed the last time I was there!
Note the orange sign partially reading “phone” and “computer repair” at the right edge of the pic. That was, I'm guessing, formerly the portrait studio here. On my initial visit, they had one of those Walmart Realty signs up, like [https://www.flickr.com/photos/walmart3/] got a pic of here. Unfortunately, by my second visit where I planned to stop and snap, turns out the space had already been snapped up itself!

The radio continued to crackle and hiss with static until Marva decided to turn it off for a bit to conserve on the batteries. “Too bad these things don’t have voice mail like our cellphones, but in this jungle, we wouldn’t get a signal unless we had a satellite phone. Those things are way too expe-e-ensive.” She drew out that middle syllable, knowing the price of things like these gadgets.
“I can’t understand just how these worked by a few hours ago and now it’s like we’ve been disconnected from the world,” Heinrich commented, as he finished setting the crate of gems on the ground. “I’ll go and get the transport bin and start processing these gems for safe travel once they get to the railroad station.”
“Ugh!” Doc exclaimed, grimacing his face as he was looking at the preview on his camera. “I can’t make these images out. And if this is a video capture, then there’s sure to be sound. I just don’t have that available on this camera. Again, it would be way too expe-e-ensive to get that model,” mimicking Marva.
Cliff looked at the map and determined a path that would be safe to go in order to head toward Miffsburough to catch the train. “As John Wayne would say in one of his Westerns, ‘Let’s saddle up!’ and get going. It will be dark soon and I don’t want to spend another night here. One night was plenty, thank you.”
Stacy was checking the inventory of what was packed against the manifest and found something shocking. “Hey, guys,” she said with a voice of uncertainty. “I think we need to check that fuselage again. We’re missing one.”
Jones here. Tom Jones. I'm with Rayann, and a whole host of spiders. Little ones...and one BIG one. We stand very cautiously still, not wanting to become their next meal. But as we stood here, at the end of this short canyon a figure appeared holding a candle and something in his other hand.
"Friend or foe?" I gently asked.
"Friend!" he replied. "I'm here to help. The arachnologists from the Chamber of Secrets set me to retrieve all their missing spiders."
Rayann hesitates for a moment, then asks, "How are you going to do that? You couldn't possible scare them with that flame of your candle, could you?"
"No, but I have this wand. I think I have a spell that strong enough for all these spiders."
There was a grunt from that large spider, "I think not!"
Then our friend raised his wand and commanded, "Arania, Exumai!"

My name is Jones. Tom Jones. I'm one of the park rangers here in this, the National Enchanted Wildlife Refuge. These are my partners. We work here protecting the wildlife from wild life. It's especially dangerous here, especially around this time of year. You know it as "Halloween". Have you ever considered what the animals think of all the crazy things that humans do around this time of year? We're going to be on the watch until that 'night' is over. Come along with us and see what exciting things may happen. This is only for the strong of heart and brave of soul. Once you start, there's no turning back!

Sue: “This was a great Halloween party. Thanks for all your help!”
Anita: “Oh, you’re welcome. I wonder if anyone will try to top us for next year’s Halloween party.”
Annie: “We’ll just have to wait and see. As for me, I’ll be happy to let someone else do all the work next year.”
Ghoulio: “That was a great Halloween party. Thanks to everyone who helped, including you, Eddy. You behaved quite nicely.”
Eddy: “Aw, thanks Ghoulio. And I didn’t even repeat what I heard that other group said when I overheard them talking about their Halloween party.”
Ivana: “You can hear humans speak?”
Eddy: “Yes, it’s one of my ghost powers, but I didn’t want to bore you with their information.”
Ivana: “How come you never told us you could hear humans speak?”
Eddy: “You were always telling me to be quiet.”
Dom: “I’ll have to write a book on what all happened for this year’s party. What a cauldron of activity!”
Al: “I agree. I didn’t do too much, but what a great show of team work.”
Dusty: “You’re right. It couldn’t be done unless we all pitched in and worked together.”
Anita: “Thanks for helping me arrange the music for the seniors at the nursing home. I know they’ll just love hearing Project 626 play his guitar and singing and watching him dance.”
Project 626: “I heard that! I’m all ears!”
Annie: “I’m glad that worked out, too. After all, I’ll have to keep Project 626 for another week before he returns home. I just hope I’ll be able to keep him busy.”
Em: “Thanks a lot, Ghoulio. You played that one song I didn’t like. You know which one, right?”
Ghoulio: “To be honest, it wasn’t on my play list. And I didn’t line up any of the music. But I’m glad that the Hokey Pokey was played. It was fun watching Nokyor take his block off!”
Rick: “I’m here. Sorry I’m late again. I had to pick up more sandwiches from the deli, then I had to take this one rider across town to the bus depot, then I had to...”
Ghoulio, Ivana, Eddy, Nokyor, Em, Al, Anita, Sue, Annie, Dom, and Dusty: “No need to go into depth on your previous stops. You’re here now, and that’s what matters.”
Rick: “It seems like I’ve heard that before.”

Jones here. Tom Jones. I have been patrolling this National Enchanted Wildlife Refuge with Rayann, and recently we heard this loud thrashing noise just beyond the swamp area. Sam from Swamp detail came with his motor bike to where we were joined by Perry from Parking Patrol. Sam radioed Perry to join us at the crossing.
"Yep, we're not dealing with deer here, dear," Perry said with a grin. Perry always ended his sentences with some reference to wildlife.
"I agree," Sam replied. "and I think I know from where those tracks came."
I also concurred. "We'll have to trace these tracks back to the source to be sure."
Rayann quipped in, "It's best to find out what we're going to encounter before we actually find it."
"Good point, honeybear," Perry chimed in.
As they looked for the source, they saw someone approaching them, armed and ready to shoot.

Anita: “That was sure some surprise, Tasha. I never thought you would find a dragon this big!”
Tasha: “Oh, I’ve been known to have a few surprises up my sleeve. When I heard that Cheetz was in town, I had to ‘balance the score’ a bit with him. Now, his ‘business associates’ won’t be helping him get into more trouble.”
Anita: “And you did keep your promise to help us find a big dragon. Thanks! And you even sent us this kitty as a surprise.”
Tasha: “You’re welcome, my dear. I sent that kitty to warn you, and you used your skill to get my message. Now, do tell your parents that your aunt came for a visit. And I do hope that Patty Gotham will be like a sister to you. She’s real sweet, even with all her black clothing and spider.”
Marty: “This is so cool! I’m putting on my shades and taking a selfie with this dragon. Oh, now where did my cellphone go?”
Patty: “Okay, spider. You’re safe. That big ol’ dragon isn’t going to hurt you. And you, Marty McFearnon. Your cellphone is in your back pocket, like always.”
Mei-Ling: “Hi, Charlie Brownstone. It’s me, Mei-Ling. I’m here to wear that dragon costume for your Halloween Party.”
Charlie; “Uh, wait a minute. You mean to tell me that wasn’t you in that dragon costume? Hey, guys! We got a problem!”
Cheetz: “Okay, guys. I didn’t think Tasha would show up like that and surprise the pants off all of us!”
Mel: “You’re on your own from this time forward, Cheetz! If you get yourself into trouble, you’ll just have to work that out yourself!”
Zel: “Yes, that’s right. And that isn’t up for discussion!”
Playtz: “You do have to admit, this Halloween was much better than last year.”
Fritz: “Just hurry up! I can feel that dragon’s breath on my back!”
Cheetz: “And I thought that cat was going to be our big dragon. Boy, was I spooked out.”
Clutz: “Hey, guys! I figured out I can slice my sausages onto these pizzas, so I won’t need the buns. That should make them taste extra good!”

Jones here. Tom Jones. Rayann and I were heading toward the other end of this Enchanted Wildlife Refuge when we encountered these large spiders. It looked bad for the two of us as we didn't have anything with which to drive them back. We feared the worst. But then we heard someone call to us.
"Don't worry. I'll take care of those spiders, even that big one coming toward you."
We didn't know what to make of it. It appeared as though a single figure stood in the shadows with a lit candle. He carried something else in his other hand, but it seemed like it was a stick. I called back, 'Do what you have to but do it now and don't hurt us!"
"I won't," replied the voice.
Rayann turned to me and asked, "Do you know that voice? It seems as though I have heard that voice before.
"I think I have heard it before too, but I can't remember off hand from where."
"Hold on," the voice called. "I'll get you out of this predicament."

I tried keeping the ttv frame this time just to see how it would look, normally I don't enjoy it.
I guess it's okay.
I thought I wrecked this at first, but now I don't mind it really aha.
Anywho the school years is almost over, and Iv'e never wanted a school year to end so badly. This past week my attendance at school has been on and off. Mainly because I'm sick, but really I'm just sick of school and the people there.
Only two more weeks....
It feels like a lifetime.

Jones here. Tom Jones. Darla shot, but her tranquilizer gun was jammed. She thought the dart was deployed, but it wasn't. So she quickly readjusted her gun. But by then, Clutzy had turned and run down the path.
"I'll chase after him," Rayann shouted as she ran after the frightened dino.
I cautioned her, "Be careful, Rayann! That dino can turn on you and crush you."
"I'll be careful, Tom," she replied. "I remember my tactical training in pursuing armed suspects. This clutzy dinosaur is like a suspect in that he escaped from where he belongs."
Darla took the shot. A direct hit. "Now to watch this show come to a slow finish."

Aprovechando mi breve estancia en Londres, ayer me acerqué a la estación de London King's Cross a ver los veteranos HST de Virgin, ya que está prevista su retirada del servicio para diciembre de 2019 tras más de 40 años en servicio. En la imagen el 43299 procedente de Leeds recién llegado a la estación londinense.
Jones here. Tom Jones. While Darla made her way back to meet her team at the truck to get Clutzy loaded, I noticed Rayann was kind of broken up about all this.
"Don't worry, Rayann," I assured her, "Clutzy will be okay once they get him back to their labs. They have done this before because Clutzy has done this before. He'll survive."
"I know," Rayann responded tearfully. "It's just so hard to see the beautiful animal laying here so lifeless."
I had to hold back my tears, chocking them as I began, "That tranquilizer will wear off once he gets settled, and they will take good care of him. Don't worry."
I glanced at my watch to check the time, and realized something important.
"I don't mean to break your spirit, Rayann. But do you realize what time it is? It's beginning to get dark due to the earlier setting of the sun. We'll have to start our way to the old house on the other side of the wildlife preserve. You know what happened last year, don't you?"
"I certainly do, and I don't want what happened then to happen again. Ever!"
"We'll see about that, and this year, we'll be prepared!"
2018 October 18
Tasha: “Thanks, Horatio, for taking the time this late hour to do this. I’ll owe you one.”
Horatio: “Ah, no sweat. I had this machine warmed up the minute you called me, and it only took about five minutes. And as for your dragon, you have one beautiful specimen with which to work.”
Tasha: “Thanks. I do have to return this as I promised, but under the circumstances, this is the best I could do. How long will it take to make a large one of these?”
Horatio: “I’m not sure. This is the first time I’ve done a dragon, so we’ll see. Hopefully we’ll get it long before that Halloween Party.”
Tasha: “I hope so, too. I have this girl, Anita, to thank for sending me in the right direction, and I do want to make sure her party goes well, but I have these guys that seem to think I can answer at their slightest call. They want a dragon, they’ll get one, all right. Just wait!”
Horatio: “Okay, what does your book say about copying the image?”
Tasha: “6.5 by 9.0. Zero-degree tilt, full stop open. Image intensity at 95%, secondary colors at low but primary colors at high. Focal point on center of object. Full power on. Refraction at 50%. Did I go too fast for you?”
Horatio: “Nah, I was just hoping this wouldn’t drag on for too long.”
