Gravestones of a lost life.Walking in the woodlands, searching for the spirit of the forest. Each time is an immersion in serenity… walking, listening, smelling, charged with the energy and positivity that nature can give. Here in the Circeo National Park

While sitting on a family member’s patio on a very spring-like February afternoon in Redding California, USA, this red breasted sapsucker lit on a nearby oak tree. The bird flitted around busily for a good while, once pausing in a nice shaft of sunlight coming through the tree canopy to peck at the tree, presumably looking to enjoy the sweetness of some of its sap.

A photo of my favorite butte in the Bear Paw Mountains...McCann Butte, as taken on the Cleveland Creek Ranch near Cleveland, Montana.
If you drew a line east from McCann Butte it would be the highest elevation on the map until you hit the Adirondack Mountains in New York. McCann Butte, as you drive toward it in the morning from the north, looks like the Great Pyramid of Giza as it rises up from the middle of the flat Montana plains. McCann Butte has a maximum elevation of 4,310 feet above mean sea level (AMSL) and its peak is still used today by members of neighboring Indian tribes as a spiritual site.

A perfectly respectable lansdcape with four Aberdeen Angus mooching about in the field. Didn't stop me "having a little play". Original shoot is on Getty as there's lots of copy space in this composition.

Toned Version. Along a rural country road in Wisconsin is this amazing tree. Itâs not the biggest tree around nor a fancy species. But when you see it, you can tell itâs quite special. It sits alone on a small hill. The prairies that surround provide a sea of serene white in the Winter season. Albion, WI

Machu Picchu is a 15th-century Inca site located 2,430 metres above sea level on a mountain ridge above the Urubamba Valley. Most archaeologists believe that Machu Picchu was built as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti (1438–1472). Often referred to as "The Lost City of the Incas", it is perhaps the most familiar icon of the Inca World.
The Incas started building the "estate" around AD 1400 but abandoned it as an official site for the Inca rulers a century later at the time of the Spanish Conquest. Although known locally, it was unknown to the outside world before being brought to international attention in 1911 by the American historian Hiram Bingham. Since then, Machu Picchu has become an important tourist attraction.
Since the site was never known to the Spanish during their conquest, it is highly significant as a relatively intact cultural site. Machu Picchu was declared a Peruvian Historical Sanctuary in 1981 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. In 2007, Machu Picchu was voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in a worldwide Internet poll.

The unbelievably colourful Burano, one of the islands in the Venice lagoon, where every house is painted a bright shade of blue, yellow, pink, purple. Put this with the washing flapping in the breeze, the window boxes of red geraniums, and the painted saints in their wall niches and you feel like you're at a permanent festival.
Just a pile of books on my "to read" list. I'm currently reading the top one, "Same Kind of Different as Me". I just started it but I'm liking it so far. I was advised to see the movie once I finish the book.
