Krakow is a beautiful city and I have been fortunate enough to make a few work trips there. This morning I got up before sunrise while the lights were still illuminating the streets and building and managed to get this shot.

Maybe I’m a bad person but the empty beach, without humans, has kind of magic. Walking on the beach of “Lido di Latina” on the Tyrrhenian Sea.

An amazing sunset in a stormy day at Lake of Caprolace (Latina - Italy). Lake Caprolace, with a perimeter of about 8 km is the one that guarantees, especially to animal species living in these environments a sufficient guarantee space and tranquility

Again another wonderful sunset. The "Lake of Fogliano" is a lake of brackish water and protected area near the coast of the Tyrrhenian sea. A place of tranquility and serenity.

A gorgeous morning from the Church of “San Nicola de la Meta” in the town of Vasto (CH - Italy). The first written indications date back to 1644, it is assumed that the church was already active from the end of the previous century.

The Meuse river enters the Netherlands near Maastricht, becoming the Maas river. It flows north to the city of Nijmegen where it sweeps west and parallels the Waal river; they join at Hollands Diep and flow to the North Sea. Short sections of the Maas at its western end are named Bergsche Maas and Amer river.

Limburgse Maas is the section between the cities of Maastricht and Nijmegen. It is non-navigable from Maastricht to Maasbracht, bypassed by the Julianakanaal; fifty kilometers of tight curves on the natural Maas are bypassed by the 35km straight-line canal. West of the city of Nijmegen the Maas-Waalkanaal connects the two rivers at the point where the Maas turns to the west.

Kanaal van St Andries, just 2.1km long, connects the Waal with the Maas at the point where their natural paths almost touch. A popular connection is the Andelse Maas, which strikes north from Heusden and leads to Gorinchem, with stopping points along the way.

The current in the Maas has been somewhat tamed by a lock at the Belgian border, a bypass canal (Julianakanaal) with three locks and another five locks on the Maas between Roermond and Kanaal van St Andries.

Second visit to this location and the weather certainly played out better than the first; cloud and rain... I was hoping for a clear sky with some light cloud for a colourful sunset, but instead i had this contrast of moody cloud/ vibrant colour coming from the sun, giving me a very contrasty scene in terms of warmth vs cold! A stunning location with so much to explore!

the small yellow underwing, is a moth of the family Noctuidae. The species was first described by Giovanni Antonio Scopoli in his 1763 Entomologia Carniolica. It is found in Europe but is missing in northern Scandinavia, in Portugal, in central and southern Spain, as well as on most Mediterranean islands, except Sicily. In the east, the range extends to the Ural Mountains, but the east distribution limits are still insufficiently known. Occurrence in Asia Minor is uncertain, but it is known from Jordan and Israel.

Technical description and variation

For a key to the terms used, see Glossary of entomology terms.

The wingspan is 19–22 mm. Forewing dark fuscous, varied with red brown and with a sprinkling of pale grey scales; inner and outer lines indistinctly darker; a dentate, cloudy dark fuscous median shade; a darker shade precedes and defines the subterminal hue; hindwing blackish, with a deep yellow outer fascia not reaching inner margin; in the ab. obscura Spul. the black borders of the hindwing are wider and the white band smaller.

Biology

The moth flies from April to July depending on the location. It prefers sunny weather.

Larva light green; dorsal line deep green; subdorsal lines whitish, edged with darker; spiracular line more yellowish, edged with dark green above: head pale green. The larvae feed on the flowers and seeds of Cerastium and Stellaria.

A red sky appears when dust and small particles are trapped in the atmosphere by high pressure. This scatters blue light leaving only red light to give the sky its notable appearance. A red sky at sunset means high pressure is moving in from the west, so therefore the next day will usually be dry and pleasant.
