Aït Benhaddou is a 'fortified city', or ksar, along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech in present-day Morocco.
It is situated in Souss-Massa-Draâ on a hill along the Ouarzazate River. The ksar, a group of earthen buildings surrounded by high walls, is a traditional pre-Saharan habitat. The houses crowd together within the defensive walls, which are reinforced by corner towers. Ait-Ben-Haddou, in Ouarzazate province, is a striking example of the architecture of southern Morocco.
Most of the town's inhabitants now live in a more modern village at the other side of the river; however, ten families still live within the ksar.

The giant leopard moth is a beautiful creature known from its amazing coloration and impressive size.
While a caterpillar, it eats many different varieties of broad leaf plant like plantains, dandelions, and cannabis.
Unfortunately, giant leopard moths don't live very long as they don't have mouth parts and don't eat during this stage of their lives. As moths, they basically exist just to lay eggs before passing away.
It is because of this short lifespan and its nocturnal habits that many insect enthusiasts rarely catch a glimpse of this moth, making the discovery and/or capture of one a pretty big deal for bug lovers.
While sitting on a family member’s patio on a very spring-like February afternoon in Redding California, USA, this red breasted sapsucker lit on a nearby oak tree. The bird flitted around busily for a good while, once pausing in a nice shaft of sunlight coming through the tree canopy to peck at the tree, presumably looking to enjoy the sweetness of some of its sap.

A photo of my favorite butte in the Bear Paw Mountains...McCann Butte, as taken on the Cleveland Creek Ranch near Cleveland, Montana.
If you drew a line east from McCann Butte it would be the highest elevation on the map until you hit the Adirondack Mountains in New York. McCann Butte, as you drive toward it in the morning from the north, looks like the Great Pyramid of Giza as it rises up from the middle of the flat Montana plains. McCann Butte has a maximum elevation of 4,310 feet above mean sea level (AMSL) and its peak is still used today by members of neighboring Indian tribes as a spiritual site.

MIRI. On the balcony with my cats waiting for the Sun to play its games with the clouds. This year there are many very particular sunsets and I am taking advantage of the situation.

Just a pile of books on my "to read" list. I'm currently reading the top one, "Same Kind of Different as Me". I just started it but I'm liking it so far. I was advised to see the movie once I finish the book.
“Torre Astura” is an medieval coastal defense tower, build on the island called by the ancients merely Astura at the southeast extremity of the Bay of Antium (Anzio). Existing remains show that many of the Roman nobility must have had villas there. The Tower is part of the medieval castle of the Frangipani family. The castle was later a fief of the Caetani, the Orsini and then the Colonna families.
A man is sitting on a beach on a winter day. The Bothnian Bay is frozen deep and there is quite a lot of snow. Perfecte day for family outing.
The unbelievably colourful Burano, one of the islands in the Venice lagoon, where every house is painted a bright shade of blue, yellow, pink, purple. Put this with the washing flapping in the breeze, the window boxes of red geraniums, and the painted saints in their wall niches and you feel like you're at a permanent festival.

Toned Version. Along a rural country road in Wisconsin is this amazing tree. Itâs not the biggest tree around nor a fancy species. But when you see it, you can tell itâs quite special. It sits alone on a small hill. The prairies that surround provide a sea of serene white in the Winter season. Albion, WI
