It's not a castle or a house, or even a ruin. It's the southernmost outcrop in Cheshire of hard sandstone grit, rising 355m above sea level. At its highest point stands a mock tower that was built as a summer house in 1754 by Randle Wilbraham, the local Lord of the Manor. This tower is visible for miles around and is a major landmark visited throughout the year. Interestingly, it was the location for the first Primitive Methodist service in 1807.
It's a bit of a strange place with people going up there at all times of the day or night in all conditions, some for the most bizarre reasons. Drinks, drugs, weddings, prayers, sightseeing, sun and moon worship, it has been the setting for a few of my adventures in the past too. See my Mow Cop album!
Anyhow, this shot was a dud. Something has gone wildly wrong in my processing factory!!! Possibly caused by too much booze.
Aquà a la derecha de la imagen y situado en el muelle histórico y ahora puerto deportivo este árbol de botellas de sidra tiene el objetivo de fomentar el reciclaje.
Al parecer tiene un peso de casi 8 toneladas y se instaló empleando unas 3.200 botellas de color verde para su confección. Las botellas están colocadas boca abajo y en unos 8 pisos disminuyentes de superficie imitando copas de árbol.
La obra está iluminada por las noches mediante una gran farola alojada en su interior que produce destellos verdes.
Gijón/Xixón es una ciudad sidrera que cuenta con una dilatada historia en la cultura de la sidra. Por eso, desde el Ayuntamiento de Xixón, a través de Divertia, y Otea, hostelerÃa y turismo en Asturias, se puso en marcha un proyecto para dedicar un dÃa de la semana a la sidra. Asà surge Jueves de Sidra. Cada jueves, en el grupo de establecimientos participantes se promociona la sidra con Denominación de Origen Protegida ofreciéndola junto a una tapina o un tentempié a precios especiales.

An image of the kitchens which would have operated around the end of the 19th century at Copped Hall near Epping Essex. The kitchens sit under the Georgian mansion and this image was taken from a ground floor window in the Victorian wing.

Mow Cop with the moon at its closest pass in 18 years at 356,577 kilometers (221,567 miles) away from earth.
This is one shot taken with a Canon EOS 1D, 500mm f/4 + 2X converter.
It was shot 1.6 miles away from Mow Cop on the A34 between Congleton and Stoke on Trent.

As you can see, there was a storm brewing over the Cheshire Plain and heading towards Mow Cop Castle. The blue skies are fast disappearing. I'm standing in sunny Staffordshire looking out over the county of Cheshire.
Wild flowers and a host of butterflies now greet you as you climb the hill to the top. Skippers, Meadow Browns, Gatekeepers and Small Whites today. The wild Thyme is out, smells gorgeous too...and the Bilberrys are growing nicely. I did a small walk up through the top of the village following the Gritstone Trail to the base of the castle. Got back to my car just as the heavens opened and it poured down. 2 hours later and we were back to sunshine again...oh we just love our English summers! :))))
Zoom in and you can plainly see (just to the left of the castle) the white dish of the famous Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank.
The most striking feature of the Lovell Telescope is the huge white bowl that can be seen for many miles around. This bowl, fashioned in the shape of a paraboloid, is the part of the telescope that gathers incoming radio waves and since 1957 it has been quietly probing the depths of space.
