The pattern of scratches and the light reflecting on this copper-topped table in Project Coffee looked like a miniature copper sun, so I snapped a quick shot while waiting for my breakfast
This picture was taken from a vista point near Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. This road leads to the southern entrance to the park and it ends at the Kennecott Mine. The brown color in the water comes from melting glaciers that feed the rivers. We continued driving and saw an area on the river where there were a dozen fish wheels sitting on the bank. It is an interesting area to visit with a lot of history.
Another exercise in Light Painting with a torch.
12 separate 10 second images layered, blended & masked in Photoshop.
Looking up at the copper-clad underside of The Vessel, a public sculpture-and-hiking-trail in the new Hudson Yards development west of Madison Square Garden in Manhattan.
The reflections were surreal and dream-like, almost Dali-esque.
The original was rotated and then only lightly retouched to create this version of the photo.

Hummer & flowers in 'tooled' copper (?) on black background. Artist to still be ascertained. Private collection.
It was difficult to photograph this framed work. The protective glass had so many reflections I had to avoid via crouching at awkward angles, but as worth it as a hummingbird finding nectar in a flower!
A quick frost and snowfall, and golden cottonwood leaves turn to copper, along the Santa Fe River Walk.
Another shot from Ireland's UNESCO-listed Copper Coast - this time the beach at Ballydowane at dusk, with the moon rising in the background )top left).

A box full of copper coins - pennies and tuppence pieces -long since cast aside before the pandemic. I now very rarely pay with cash and can't recall the last time I used coins. I should take these to my local Coinstar machine.
April 2024 : The Copper-throated Sunbird is a lovely bird to photograph. Especially the male. Always best when it is in sunlight so you can see the iridescent feathers on display. The challenge is that they live in the mangrove forest, where light is at a premium.
What are iridescent feathers? They are the result of the refraction of incident light caused by the microscopic structure of the feather barbules. The refraction works like a prism, splitting the light into rich, component colors. As the viewing angle changes, the refracted light becomes visible in a glowin
