Day 26 of Project 365
I was looking outside my den window this morning and saw this Coppers Hawk sitting right by the feeder on a branch and a black Squirrel was coming down the branch toward him and I thought you better watch yourself or you are going to be breakfast. He had his tail feathers all spread out and it was a beautiful sight so I moved slowly to not scare him while attempting to go and get my camera but as I came back he flew away and landed on another branch to bad I did not get that photo it was quite the sight. After shooting this picture I scared him away so that he did not eat my birds.
No birds at the bird feeder? Hmm?
Oh, now I see why.

As I approached the Coopers Hawk nesting area today, I noticed a distinct lack of nestlings,in the nest or in the branches around the nest. All I saw was tis adult. Then some movement above my head clued me in! There were about a dozen Turkey Vultures floating over head, close to the nest, close enough to get some pretty alright shots of them with a cloud obscured sun! I figured the other adult was covering the nestlings in the nest! I sure wish I could get up there and see for sure. I suppose the adult hawks wouldn't appreciate that though! :)
