This photo meet the project guidelines because the fireplace and wall frame the dog. One strength of this photo is that it has a strong focal point. one weakness of this photo is that it is slightly too bright in the background. The principle of design being used is contrast between the black dog and white wall.

The Cook House is a five-bay, two-and-a-half story, frame dwelling constructed in the Federal style. The structure consists of a main side-gabled rectilinear block and three rear wings, one with a front-gabled roof, one with a low-pitched hipped roof, and one with a side-gabled roof. A full-width hipped-roof porch with fluted column supports that covers the first floor dominates the north front elevation. The first floor consists of two six-over-one double-hung sash windows with wooden shutters on either side of a single door surmounted by a semicircular fanlight. The second floor on the front elevation consists of five six-over-six double-hung sash windows with wooden louvered shutters. The roof features an interior brick chimney at the east gable end and an exterior brick chimney at the west gable end. The east façade consists of three six-over-one double-hung sash windows with wooden shutters on the first floor and two two-light windows at the attic story. The west façade consists of one six-over-six double hung sash window with wooden shutters and a single light casement window on the first floor, two six-over-one double hung sash windows with wooden shutters on the second floor, and two two- light windows at the attic story.
The one-story hipped roof rear wing consists of two one-over-one double-hung sash windows on either side of a single door with one light. The two-and-a-half story front-gabled rear wing features two six-over-six double-hung sash windows with wooden shutters on the second floor and an interior chimney at the gable end. The two-bay, one-and-a-half story side-gabled rear wing extends from the east façade of the main block and consists of two six-over-six double hung sash windows with wooden shutters and two interior chimneys, one at each of the double gables.
At 3,754 meters, Mt Cook is the highest mountain in New Zealand. It is often used when training for climbs of Mt Everest because it has similar terrain and amounts of snow. On this day, the temperature at the summit was -5C, although it regularly plunges to -20C even in the summer.
